Is Disney promoting something with Home Alone?

I keep seeing a lot of Home Alone merchandise at Disney Store and I am curious to know what Disney is doing with Home Alone? Is there gonna be a new Home Alone movie in the works at Disney or is this the anniversary of Home Alone? Because i'm surprised that Home Alone is being promoted this year. And they just released Home Sweet Home Alone on Disney+. Is this because Home Alone is being rereleased for the holidays this year?

I think it's just htat Home Alone has a lot of nostalgia right now, so they are capitalizing now that they own it. It's kinda like how Hocos Pocus just "popped" a few years ago after generally just being an afterthought for many years. Good for them if they can leverage it.

Next year will be the 35th anniversary of its release so I would imagine a lot more in terms of merch then as well

I think it's just that it's a classic holiday movie and the people who grew up loving it are now old enough and far along enough in their careers at the company to propose/pitch/suggest ideas for merchandise.

I first saw Home Alone as a little girl when it came out in 1990 and I can see why it's a holiday classic because it not only is it funny but has tons of action too but I think the main reason why Home Alone became a holiday hit is because of Macaulay Culkin and his role as Kevin McCallister brought him fame. I also think due to Home Alone's success fans wanted more Kevin McCallister adventures so that's why Home Alone 2 Lost In New York was made and it too was a blockbuster hit in 1992. But when Home Alone 3 came out with a new character and storyline it was very different and that's why it flopped in theaters when it debuted. I think just like Hocus Pocus is a Halloween hit people feel the same way about Home Alone because of it's Christmas setting and it's comedic vibe that it has

I also think why Disney is now promoting Home Alone is that they are promoting it like they have done with Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas and Hocus Pocus because with the anniversary of Home Alone coming next year I can see Disney bringing out merchandise to bring nostalgia to fans. It's hard to believe that when Home Alone debuted in 1990 little did we know that it would turn Macaulay Culkin into a successful 90's child star by later putting him in movies like My Girl My Girl 2 and The Good Son and I remember when every girl had a crush on Macaulay Culkin "myself included" because I never knew why girls liked about him in the first place. Guess girls thought he was cute. But Home Alone 3 should've never been made because once we saw a character and storyline change that movie ruined the Home Alone franchise for good. And now I cannot believe that there are now five Home Alone movies on DVD not counting Home Sweet Home Alone on Disney+
