There is basically no availability showing for November 10-12th. BUT when I changed my search to November 10-14 I have my choice of all my preferred resorts! I went ahead and booked Riverside 5th sleeper for the extended stay but I’m going to have to figure out how to modify that reservation to check out early.

I’ve been shopping a room for this trip since early October and just discovered this work around. Now I’m wondering…is Disney silently implementing minimum night stays over busy weekends? Is this why I hear that the resorts are empty while I struggle to book my long weekend trips?

Hmmmm, not sure, But I had no problem booking the same weekend (at Beach Club) without an extended stay. Of course, I booked it back in April, so maybe that is why

Revenue Management. There isn't an absolute minimum stay. PP. Was able to book
basically no availability
Means there is some availability.

Disney doesn't want "orphaned" rooms.

You could be given the option of keeping your entire reservation or canceling your entire reservation.

Call Disney now and tell them plans have changed and you need to drop a couple days. This may take some time, they may have to pass you to another level of guest services.

Apparently using algorithms to maximize occupancy is common in the hospitality industry. Disney started doing it several years ago to avoid single room nights. Many posters noted then that other hotel chains have done it for years. It kind of doesn’t surprise me a busy weekend has some limits. It used to be pretty easy to call & they’d just drop nights for you. The last few years before closing, they had to call guest services & they might or might not accommodate you. I’m not sure how willing they are to drop nights now.

Universal resorts and Swan..reprices your entire reservation if you want to drop nights. If the discounted rate you booked isn't available for new bookings for your revised dates the discounted rate you had won't be available for your modification.

I'll frequently book the first and/or last night as a seperate booking. You'll have to pay a deposit for each booking.

Just wanted to update and share that I had no problem dropping nights down to my desired reservation! They are definitely doing a weird algorithm thing but rooms are available for shorter stays.

Side note, THIS is why I’m hesitant about buying an AP, even for my third trip this year. I miss being a passholder but Disney is SO complicated to book and visit on a whim since Covid. Ugh.
