It would cost us $1200 more for a deluxe on concierge room for one week.

In your opinion and experience is it worth 200 sq ft more (with 3 big teen boys!)...

Thanks! We are just booked for standard (2 qns, daybed)..

It IS expensive, and definitely not a category that I would book every trip....BUT the extra space is incredible. And with 3 teens? You might need it to survive! (Plus the deluxe concierge room guarantees an incredible Boardwalk view...)

We have not done this, but we have friends who have and they said it was more than worth it. The extra space and the amazing views!

Last time we stayed at BWI, which was June 2007, I had booked a room for 5 with a daybed, thinking it was a a daybed a child or small adult could sleep in. When we arrived we were assigned a BWV studio. When I objected the manager said BWI was sold out and the daybeds were really bench's and only 40 inches. When I asked where our 5th person would sleep in a studio?! we were given an aerobed. I didn't understand, as I've seen pictures on various web sites, including WDW's, where the daybed looked bigger and CRO let me book the room knowing the composition of my party, but I didn't want to argue further with the manager or move to another resort so we took the villa studio room. The WDW web site still has the same pictures. I would try to find out if the daybed will actually accomodate one of your teens. And I don't think you'll find the answer from CRO. Good luck!

I'm not sure of the size of the daybed in a std. room, so I can't comment on that. We've stayed BWI deluxe two times with 5 adults and I can say it was well worth the extra $$. There's so much more room in a deluxe room. With two TV's you can have some watching TV in the sitting area away from those in the bedroom/bath area. Since you have a guaranteed Boardwalk view, you not only have the extra space in the room, but you have the view from the balcony. And IMHO the concierge staff are the best on property.

Great! you know I can sleep anywhere! I am not a big person and the daybed is good for me!
Thanks for the comments you are all so wonderful and great info!

Now that the rooms have been renovated the "daybeds" are actually queen size sleep sofas. I have stayed in both types of rooms and would choose the deluxe with your 3 boys. You will have a great view and have the best cast available to help you!!

We just got back and there were 5 of us in a standard CL room and we only had one teen. The rooms aren't that big. We were lucky that our balcony was a large balcony so it made our space feel much larger. I would have really liked to have done a deluxe room, but none were available when I booked it. We were there for 8 nights and the extra space would have been nice. Having said that we made do and it was just fine with a regular room. I will say my 13 got the day bed and she said it was the worse bed she had ever slept on. She was more than happy to go sleep with my parents over at the Dolphin for a night!

The next time we book the BWI I will definitely spend the extra money for a deluxe room.

If you can afford it I think it is worth it! CL lounge will save you money with all the food and drinks they offer

One other suggestion -- with three teen boys consider Beach Club. We had a deluxe club level room at the Beach Club. It was quite roomy and comfortable for our family of four with two teen boys. And, the pool at Beach Club is far superior for teenagers to the one at BWI.

DH says no to extra money to upgrade. He says it is beyond anything we thought to do BW resort to begin with. With the 4/3 we are going with it.

My sister suggested taking our very compact blow up mattress (excellent really) for ds12 to use in room instead of day bed. Good idea. We have lots of room in bag for it.

Well our TA just totally confirmed everything.
Some added perks: (not much but still nice)

ME transport from airport to resort (i knew about this)
one arcade pass
one round minny golf
1 gift at planet hollywood
$15 gift card planet hollywood
$200 gift card Disney

We have never, ever used the Planet Hollywood things. We have never used the 30 mins on the boats, or the free pass to minigolf. It's easy for them to give these things away since so few people use them.

I know it doesn't come out even, but staying Concierge will probably save you about $300-$500 in breakfasts, snacks, and drinks. And popping down to the concierge room for breakfast was a lot faster than standing in line at the boardwalk bakery or at a counter in the park.

Thanks Marmar! Good point. But we are 5 and it is $1200 to upgrade to deluxe, believe it or not. I can get Gardengrocer.com or some delivery to bring some baking, fruit, drinks, water, soda, wine etc to our room for around $300. A fridge would be nice too but I always bring a collapsible cooler.

I misunderstood what you were asking. I thought you were asking if you should upgrade from a standard CL room to a deluxe CL room! I thought $1200 was a bit steep to go from standard CL to deluxe.

Can you upgrade to a standard club level room? Those aren't as much as the deluxe club level rooms. I just think with three teen boys the convenience of the lounge would be great.

I did say my daughter complained about the daybed. She also came down with a bug while we were there so perhaps that could have led to more discomfort?

Either way your bound to have a great time:)
