Is Cat 6 worth $$ or should we do Cat 7.

Hi all,
I was just wondering if anyone had an opion on the difference in the Cat 6 or Cat 7 Rooms.

When did you usually use your verandah?

Or should we skip the verandah and go to Cat 8 room>

We are traveling with our six year old and do like to have some breathing room, but I have heard the rooms are larger on the Disney Cruise.

Thanks all.

p.s. where do you find those cruise countdown icons on the bottom of the posts?

When we first started taking DS cruising he was 8 and it was SO great to have a place to sit and enjoy some wine while he could chill out in the evening and watch a disney movie. The veranda is like having an extra (although small) room. I can't imagine cruising without one. The price difference between a 6 and 7 is not that great I would stay with the six. Although you can get some six's at the cost of a seven the reclassified "partially obstructed"verandas. You can find out their cabin numbers on

Hi! We just came home from the June 28 Eastern Magic. If my husband didn't smoke, I'd sure give the large porthole rooms a try. Especially if you can get one near the deck 4 (is this the promenade deck?) blue chairs! This is where we spent most of our time. This is a covered deck so you are out of the sun, and the breeze comes thru so nicely. Excellent place to read or take a nap or just enjoy looking around. The verandah was nice, but I think I would have been just as happy with one of the large portholes.

Actually all the rooms from cat. 10 up to cat. 5 are the same size. The sq. ft. difference you see is the verandah added in. We have never had a verandah (too nervous the little ones would climb and fall off and the bigger one would jump - going through the "I am worthless stage"!) With 7 of us in two cabins (cat. 9 then cat. 10) we never really felt cramped at all. Spent the majority of our time outside the cabin anyway. I think you'll be surprised how late your 6 year old can actually stay awake - and in the clubs! We much prefer spending our money on stuff we can take home (pictures from Shutters are extraordinary!)

You may want to try for 7120, 7620, 6634 or 6134 which were all formerly category 5s reclassified to category 7s because the view is slightly impaired due to the curve of the ship.

we go cat 7 specifically because we wanted the verandah and it was identical to cat 6 except the layout of the verandah and the lower cost. for us, cost was initially the deciding factor. we enjoyed the navigator's verandah so much our first cruise, we took it again the next time.

if you are undecided between cat 6 and 7, take the 7. for the amount of time you spend on the verandah, you won't notice any difference except the extra money left in your pocket. we couldn't (and still can't) justify the price differential.
