Is Buying the AP for the Discounts worth it?

I am planning on upgrading my 5 day PH MYW tickets to an AP when I get there in April, I live in miami so we do go up to Orlando for at least a weekend about once a month or once everyother month...now My thing is I have stayed in both the value and moderate resorts before and would like to try and use the AP for a discount at a deluxe resort, preferably the POLY or the AKL for my birthday in Sept. (for a 4 day stay) do you think that the price of the AP will be worth it ? Also, what are your opinions on this or on other options i may have.

well, we live in indiana and I just purchased a Annual pass with the dining option and we will use it for 7-10 days over two days. That being said we are saving almost 8 hundred dollars on our room reservation and with the extra money for the tickets im still ahead 400. Ill break even on the dining plan by getting the discount at two character dinners then every thing else is bonus. It may not work in all cases, but for our situation it is worth it.

Just got back from a 10 night stay at the All Star Sports.

With our AP discount we paid $49 a night, plus tax (2 Adults).

I've been contemplating that too lately. I live in Illinois and was thinking about getting an annual pass just for the discount. Sometimes it's beneficial and sometimes it's not. I think you should no doubt get an annual pass if you live near WDW and go there once or twice a month. After seeing some of the AP rates, I am thinking it'd be worth investing a little more money to save a little more.

You can buy the seasonal florida resident ap for like 229.00. It does have black out dates....like the summer, the week of christmas through new years and like maybe spring break. We live in Miami and these are what we always buy. We ususally save about 1000.00 a stay (10 nights at a deluxe) plus we have the disney dining card too. If you plan on going that much I dont know why any Florida resident would buy myw tickets. You probably paid more for those few days then the whole year. So unless you need to go during the summer or a black out period this is what I would do. You can buy them from the Disney storeor online.

The only place I know is the Passholder section of the WDW website. And they don't show them that far in advance. Right now you can only get rates for arrivals up to 4/8/06. But I did get about 35% off for our weekend trip to Port Orleans in January for the Passholder/DVC sneak preview of Expedition Everest. Plus passholders get other discounts (some dining discounts, tour discounts, marine rental discounts, etc.).

When you decide on your dates and number of people, you can always check the Florida Residents section of waltdisneyworld.com http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/flresidents/FLResLanding?id=FLResLandingPage for current FL Res room only rate offers and then you might also post your dates here and a current AP holder can check room prices for you so you can see which way is better. Like the other poster, though, offers are only into April right now...

and the seasonal pass gets you as good a discount on the hotel rooms as the annual?? I may be interested in it if it does...I have an AP to UNI & if anything I could always go there in the summer and save WDW for the slower seaons (which is when I prefer to go anyways)

Yes the seasonal pass is an annual pass with blackout dates. It is an annual pass but it is only available to Fla residents. Thats really the only difference. We always save a ton. You can go to the Florida residents part of the disneyworld website and it will tell you the pricing etc.
