Is Bush The Worst President Ever?

I will not say Bush is the worst President. The events that have taken place in Bush's Presidency would have happened regardless of who was in office. Republican or Democrat. The economy,9-11, Iraq invasion, hurricanes. I think after 9-11 the call on the Iraq invasion would have been made even if Gore was in office. We have know idea the desicions he has had to make. Given the information he was told at the time and 9-11 happening he did what I believed he had to do. He as well as alot of others believed Iraq had weapons and was a threat. I won't go any further. I will not say to my children Bush is the worst President. The way this world is heading I think the best (worst!) is yet to come.

I am not sure that 9/11 would have happened if Gore had been president. He wouldn't have spent the month of August clearing brush. He might have paid attention to all the reports and made the connection. I also don't think Gore would have invaded Iraq. IMHO the only good thing Bush did was the speech he gave at the memorial service after 9/11, it was the only time we didn't see that smirk. It has been downhill ever since.

I dunno ... I gotta go with Warren Harding. He was a do-nothing philandering pretty boy in whose administration the Teapot Dome scandal happened. Heck, even Nixon improved our relations with communist China. It's one thing to be ineffective, and one thing to be corrupt, but to be ineffective AND corrupt?? Harding pulled off that double play.
For the reasons you discussed above, Harding is a strong third on my list of worst US presidents. Fourth, unfortunately, would have to be US Grant. Great soldier...terrible president.

I think that 9-11 was in the works long before Bush. It would have happened regardless of who was in office.

That's a definite. That was years of preparation for that one horrific day... I believe that was actually Bush's shining moment in his office, and it would have been for any president. I believe he actually did a great job following those events, but his retaliations are what bothers me.

First Afganistan, which I thoroughly and wholeheartedly supported, but I was always confused about the Iraqi situation. It really seems like the only reason we're there to begin with is to finnish the job his father never did.

Rudy did a great job after 9/11. Bush gave yet another well written, but poorly read speach and did very little afterwards that wasn't actually the work of other people like Rudy.

Pretty bad.. It's gotten to the point where he reminds me of a bumbling idiot..

Only time will tell whether Bush is the worst president ever.

maybe but time sure isn't his friend these days. the more time that passes the more inept and corrupt he looks.

As of now, my vote goes for both Franklin Pierce and James Buchanan whose ineffective leadership let this country into the Civil War.

i'll generally agree althought he sure is giving Buchanan a run for his money though! :rotfl:

I think most Americans are not familiar enough with past Presidents to make a good judgement here..............

Of recent Presidents, I'd say Carter was the worst domestically (his results in foreign policy were not exactly stellar either)

Nixon had a fair amount of trouble that Bush has not had................

Clinton had his share of "cronyism" issues (Travelgate). Also check up on Ron Brown & Tyson Foods.

Reagan - - -> Iran/Contra

Johnson - - -> Vietnam. Research the "Gulf of Tonkin Incident"

GWB is just the most recent, therfore the most visible in eveyone's thoughts.

If you want some REALLY good stuff, read up about Woodrow Wilson & his thoughts on National sovereignity (he did not like it).

Teapot Dome, etc., etc.......

I agree. I want to go into the arm forces some day, and am glad he wont be president then...I want Hilary!!!

Heaven forbid! I would at least like a President with a backbone, Hillary needs to grow one and stand up to her wayward husband. He made her look like a fool.

Me too!!!!!!!!!

While Bush is pretty bad, I'm not sure he's the worst. Definitely in the top 5 worst of all time though.

I've always given her the benefit of the doubt on that one because I don't really know what I would do in the same circumstances. It's easy to say what I THINK I would do but I really don't know.

But wait, I think we have both with Bush's Administration. What do you call the impending indictments against the top two presidental aids (Karl Rove (ie., Bush's brain) and Scooter Libby) AND the fact that the VP Chenny is also closely involved with the CIA identity leak of Valerie Plame for revenge? AND the arrest of Republican House Majority Leader Tom Delay for campaign fraud and money laundering AND the investigation of Republican Senate Leader Bill Frist for insider trading? I think there is plenty of corruption at the top to consider this presidency one of the absolute worst ever.

I don't think it's fair to judge her on such a personal matter. I think the old "Walk a Mile In Her Shoes" saying applies here.

I don't think it's fair to not recognize the equal number of people who would have had a problem with her getting a divorce either.

I think she did her best in a no win situation and she handled herself with class. Whatever way she came to her decisions about her marriage, it was a private matter and should be none of our business.

In my mind, Bush is the worst (the number one worst! :earboy2: ) because he has mishandled every single challenge while in office. I can't think of one thing he has done that's been good for this country. Not one!

From what I've read, Harding is a top choice for worst president ever.

But I think Bush is. Not sure where all the disillionment is coming from, he's always been this bad in my book, which is why I didn't vote for him TWICE.
