Is Brazil closed?

And never EVER get behind one on a line for a ride as others have said, if one goes then a whole large group of them will follow behind!

Jill

Did you ever see what happened if someone stood up to them? Oh, my blood is boiling just thinking about that  Heck, there is NO_____ way I'd let that happen to my kids. Mamma Bear instinct coming out in me right now! Geeze, I'm getting all fired up. I'm usually such a quiet person. This just makes me sick.

I've encountered one of those groups. They had the yellow flag one person was holding up, they were ALL wearing bright yellow shirts and there must have been 200 of them it was a HUGE group laughing, yelling, singing, chanting, and stomping. My boyfriend and I were heading to test track and like people were saying, two of them ran in line in front of us and called the rest to follow. They ALL walked in front of us. I tried to say something and just got yelled at. What did they care? We were 2 people already in line! So I grabbed a CM and they let us take the fast pass line. I wasn't rude about it but I was pretty upset. I don't know why they don't all get fast passes or break up into smaller groups or something. Now I know if I see them I head in the other direction :)

We were there in October for F&W FYI

I went the 3rd week in January this year and the tour groups were there also. They didn't really bother me because when I saw them coming I went the other way or just left the park.

We were in Universal last week and saw many Brazilian Tour groups with the matching tee shirts and the leader holding the flag. They did not bother anyone.

We'll be there Tuesday and now I'm starting to dread dealing with these people. We've encountered them in early July. I thought they would be gone by late July. here's hoping so!!!

Anyway, we're staying at the Beach Club so hopefully they won't be able to afford to stay there and we can at least escape them when we are back at our resort. Has anyone seen these groups at the deluxe resorts ever???? I would think they would absolutely flock to the Value or maybe moderates given the fact that they are young. What do ya'll think?

We encountered them while getting off of the monorail to enter the GF..i don't know if they were staying there or not though.

I'm sorry but this thread bothers me. If its really about large group and the large group mentality, then say so but to focus in on a specific nationality borders on prejudice. I realize we come of this board to rant and rave at times but lets practice a little more tolerance, please.

I know this has been asked in this thread, but I didn't see the answer...we are going July 30 - August 2. Will most of the groups be gone by then???

I don't really care what the nationality, I would FREAK if 100 teenagers jumped in line ahead of me in the July heat! :scared1:

Excuse me, but the posters don't care where the groups come from! In case you haven't noticed, the posters are complaining about the behavior of the large groups usually led by one, yes, ONE group leader with a flag. Personally, I don't care if they're from the moon, the behavior is obnoxious and spoils the fun for everyone around them. And until you've been in line on a hot July day with a 5-year-old for a half-hour, and suddenly get pushed back 50 or 60 places in line because of these kids, you won't know what we're talking about. Up until now, the only major groups that come to WDW in this manner happen to come from Brazil. That's not politically incorrect--those are the facts. It's the same complaint with some cheerleader groups from the good ol' USA. If you're staying at the resort where they are, and they're unchaperoned properly, you can bet it will be annoying. Some have reported that they've heard the cheerleaders chanting and yelling after midnight at the value resorts. Any large group of teens that are not properly supervised are going to be a problem. Yes, they do need to abide by the rules, but they also need proper supervision, and I, for one, can't understand how a small woman with a flag on a stick is capable of controlling up to 80 or more kids. It's impossible. And that's what we're complaining about.

Yes, well that was a joke.. I've thought the same thing last year when I went in August and about 40% of the people at WDW had British accents.

Actually, they aren't all from Brazil. We started talking to a couple girls next to us in line and they were with a group from Bolivia.

We were there over July 4th week and saw lots of groups. We didn't have any problem with them. In fact we ended up in the middle of them in the lines a couple times and they all didn't push ahead of us as others have posted.

We did try to avoid them as much as possible because they were so many traveling together. I echo the posters who wonder why they need to all travel as a pack following the tour guide.

As for the behaviors, I doubt its any different than you would get from a large group of American teenagers traveling without adult supervision.

NO BIG DEAL...traveling in a large group at the parks, chanting, marching, stomping, clapping, etc..

ABSOLUTELY SHOULD NOT BE TOLERATED...

1. Line cutting, no matter how large or small

2. Gathering in a manner that prevents traffic flow

3. Raising a ruckus at a hotel after hours.

The CM's who see any of these activities, should be instructed to put a stop to them ASAP and if it means calling security for assistance, then by all means get on the phone and do it.

PS I wonder how many of the people complaining about the BTG's, have daughters who are cheerleaders and think it is "cute" when they go around WDW and do basically the same thing?

All I have to say is who ever is in these big groups where ever they are from. (My ex-boyfriend is from DR and he said they where from Brazil.) THEY ARE VERY RUDE. But, whatever my sister and I where sitting on Main Street in the MK waiting for the parade to come through and the large group pushed there way right next to us spilling a drink on me. So if it was not hot enough in July sitting and waiting for the parade sticky and hot. Never a I'm sorry just jumped in front of us when the parade.

Agree, 100%!! From what I've read on this thread, it sounds to me that it most definantly is bordering on prejudice in tone....I'm sure unintentionally! Large groups, misbehaving from Brazil are annoying....as are large groups misbehaving from the US, Canada, etc, etc, etc. Let's be careful to not judge or tag one group of people over another....I'm sure Walt would never have wanted that! :flower3:

I'm not an expert on Brazilian culture, but I would bet that some of these behaviors are more acceptable in Brazil than they are here.

As a point of comparison, I spent 6 months in France while I was in college. There, it's common to push to the front of a group if you can--the bank had no lines, for instance, so you'd go to the counter and try to get the teller's attention. If you weren't somewhat pushy, you wouldn't get served. That's how things were done in France. When a friend and I went to England for a week, we laughed that the English actually waited in line and had queues set up to keep things orderly. This doesn't mean the French are rude or anything--just that there are different customs in different cultures.

I believe the chanting is something kids in Brazil do--so to them, it's not being rude, it's just having fun. I would bet that respecting lines is not as big of an issue in Brazil as it is here, again just based on a cultural difference. We Americans have specific ideas of personal space and such which do not match the expectations and ideas people in other countries have. And the Brazilian groups compound the problem and magnify the differences because there are so many of them all at once.

They also are not here to experience American culture--they're here to party (without the booze I assume) and have fun. If their chaperones don't control them or encourage them to be polite and follow American standards of behavior, then they aren't likely to do so.

As I posted in an earlier post, a Brazilian waiter we had last week told us he was embarrassed by them--so they certainly must be rude--and if you haven't experienced it, you shouldn't really judge those of us who are less than happy with them.

It's not about their nationality. It just the mere fact that whenever there is this specific type of group 90% of the time they are from Brazil so they are known as the Brazilian groups, instead of:

"the large groups that wear the same shirts, who enjoy chanting, clapping & stomping & only have one chaperon with a flag that has them cut the lines & take up the fastpass machine for an hour"- that's a little long. ;)

As for the title, "Is Brazil Closed?"- all it's saying is... "wow, there is a lot of groups from Brazil here".

If you want to read more into it than that's fine.

Do you also get upset by the title "Jersey Week" as well? :confused3

Hmmmm. I will watch and see what my experience is like in a few weeks. My belief is that large groups of Americans or Canadian neighbors would be told to behave. Recently this happened in DTD. I guess my question is why do are some groups ignored, and some are quickly banned for life, (and then re-instated....another issue for another day.)

If Disney wanted to get a handle on this problem, they would start with the tour groups. I think they do, and the first thing they have done is closed the Brazil office. Now they have to deal with Disney Orlando. Maybe, just maybe thiis problem will be coming to an end.

I'm sorry but the fact is that at this time of year a majority of these kids are from Brazil...Chanting Brazilian soccer chants normally give it away....

We always go and ask the tour guide what company they are from....take their info and complain to Disney…its what we do every time we see them rush a line….block a walkway…or trample some poor family

I've run into issues with Cheerleaders, even the kids from Band Camp....but it’s the kids this time of year that are the worst IMO....call it prejudice if you want....but they know the rules and they dont care

Come on. I read people complain about Jersey week, cheerleader week & the marathon 10 times more than the Brazilian tour groups on here. This is the first I've read about the Brazilian tour groups, watch how many times you read about all the other AMERICAN groups.

This is getting a little ridiculous. If it's offensive to you than don't read this forum. That simple.

I don't believe anyone is being pregidous or the thought had even crossed their mind.

as I said before...
