Maybe this was the point of an earlier poster, but couldn't you just buy resale at, say, OKW or SSR for a LOT LESS and still book/stay at BLT? As with all the other DVC properties, you're only losing the 11 to 7 month booking window.
Yes, this is a good strategy if you are okay with staying at SSR or OKW if BLT is not available for your stay.
We invested in BLT because we do not want to stay elsewhere and want to do all we can to ensure we are there. We also wanted to be able to book SV rooms since we travel in the summer (Magic Season) which is one of the highest point seasons.
We could have saved about $5000 to buy SSR but there is no way we would be happy there and decided for the extra money we spent (and over the course of DVC ownership, it amounts to very little per trip) to ensure that we could get the resort we knew going in was the place we wanted to be.
I have always said that I am glad that I spent $18,000 on something that I love than $13,000 on something that I don't.
