Is BCV truly worth more than BWV?????

Though I would stay there to be on-site if nothing else is available, I really don't like (detest) BWV, but love BCV. I'm not trying to bash, but I think that a hotel style DVC resort should have dining options that do not require you to walk outside and have far better inside shopping options. BWV has neither. I strongly prefer BCV for those reasons.
I think it's just personal perception. Actually there is only one sit down option you can get to at BCV without going outside, the buffet. To get to B & C, Yachtsman and Yacht club galley, you have to go outside. You do not have to be uncovered and that may be a difference for some.

Did you factor in the size of the resale too, as well as whether they were stripped or not?

My strategy is the smaller contracts (especially the 25 - 50 point ones) command absolute top $$ via resale, moreso for entree into the "club".;)

I did. I just gave a range of prices for both in my OP here. They were pretty comparable really in the stripped versus loaded contracts and small vs. large.

I guess I'd be in complete agreement with this. BWV desperately needs a good food option poolside or inside the resort.

You shouldn't have to leave to get something good to eat.

Our friends have their DVC membership at BCV and have stayed there once in the 6 six years since they've joined. They really have a hard time booking a stay.

Why?????

I book BCV regularly at 7 months. How long are they waiting to book?

They are throwing money away to own BCV and not stay there. There are far cheaper options if they regualrly book inside 7 months.

Alas, there is a counter service restaurant that is inside (and quite good I might add) at BCV Marketplace, plus Cape May Cafe. Both are good options, IMHO. In fairness, you do have to go outside to get from BCV to the main building at BC. That is an advantage at BWV.

We own at BWV. We stayed at BCV on rented points prior to buying at BWV. We'd be happy staying at either. It's the Epcot area, not which resort we're at, that makes the difference. As far as SAB goes, a pool is a pool. My kids would be just as happy swimming at BWV as they would at SAB. So we bought at BWV. The price was better, and we have the standard view option if we want to conserve points.

BWV has a pool, BCV has an adventure. There is no comparison based on the pools.

Both are nice resorts and the smaller size of BCV is the major factor impacting cost, IMHO

I do love the lazy river portion of SAB, it's wonderful that it's right at the resort, but I really do not like having to walk through the lobby of the hotel to get there. I know that guests of the BWI can go through the lobby, or they can walk around outside. I wish there were that option at BCV, well yes, I suppose you could walk around the Epcot path, but that's long enough not to be practical for me.

Bobbi:goodvibes

PS. I actually have drawn the line at spending the extra money for BCV or to wait the extra time to get the points. It would be nice to take the extended family there, but I was able to add on, a few times to VWL, and get the points, and use them. I am starting to be "bothered" or a bit uneasy about the time growing short(er) for these original DVC resorts. As time goes on, the price will have to go down. I am extremely happy with what we have, but I am not willing to pay more for them in the future.

I just scanned through the resales through TSS. (Hey you never know when I might be tempted:) )

What really jumped out at me is the big difference in price between BCV and BWV. BCV listings went from a low of $89 to a high of $99. BWV goes from a low of $84 to a high of $88.

This seems like quite a bit for a resort in really the same location.

I realize it is all so subjective but lets pretend I'm considering a resale. Convince me that either BCV is worth $5 - $11 more than BWV or take the other route, convince me it isn't worth that much more per point.
In a word "no"

Not sure if this will help or not - but if i had to choose between the two, i'd go with BCV because of stormalong bay. That in itself is worth the extra cost IMO.

Not an SAB fan. Am a fan of the value of Standard View points. So, no.

When we bought Disney was selling BCV at $72 before opening. We bought BWV at $63 resale - so we pretty much made exactly this decision. BCVs location overlooking the road was not at all an inducement to us.

Agree on BW restaurants having "back doors" from interior halls. The weather when we have stayed there has always been great, but I'm not looking forward to the "mad dash in a downpour" that is inevitable.

The only reason to own one over the other is the 11/7 month window. Trying to "convince" ourselves that one of these is better than the other is beyond futile and weve stopped trying-they are both our favorites for many reasons (mostly location). For us we have very good luck obtaining BWV View (prefer BCV if BW View is not available) at under 7 months, so owning there is not as important to us as BCV. So we can see why someone would pay more per point at BCV-I'm sure there are many who would not and the lower resale point is the way to go, but its tough to argue with the overall numbers.

I guess it's worth whatever people are willing to pay for it. :confused3

Simple answers to simple questions. Beautiful.

I would not be willing to pay more for Beach Club...we like BWV better. But that's me.

DH and I went through the "BCV vs BWV" decision process when we bought into DVC in July 2005.

Like crisi, I am also not a fan of SAB. DH and I don't have kids so we go to the pool for an hour or two to swim, have an exotic beverage and relax. SAB is always so crowded that at times we've spent 10 minutes wandering around trying to find two empty lounge chairs. The size and crowd levels at the BWV pool suit us better. And we both prefer the pool slide at BWV.

I love having a room with a view so the boardwalk view at BWV is such a treat. And when points are tight, it's great to have the option to save points by booking standard view.

We used to stay at YC prior to joining DVC so it felt a little strange moving across the lake. But after two stays at BWV, I feel right at home there and it's clear it was the right decision for us.

Do you think this will become more difficult (booking BCV at 7 months) once the people who buy into AKV get tired of looking at giraffes, since (at the moment anyway) there really isn't very much else there?

Not looking to start a debate. Just trying to decide whether to add on at AKV, BCV, or OKW (or just hold out for CRV - which is what we really want). I have a list of pros and cons for each and am leaning toward BCV, but am waiting to hear "officially" about the actual number of club level rooms (at AKV).

I called my guide yesterday discussing pretty much the same options. We are leaning towards more points at BCV.

I told her we would let he know on Friday.

As of yesterday there were 600 points with an April UY available

How did you know that's the year I need! Guess it was meant to be!

Wow, I'm stumped for a response. I'd like to think your post isn't simply a pot stirring post so I'll give it a wack. :stir: If it a stir.. well... then you got me.;)

I've read various boards including this for years now. It seems that for some strange reason BCV owners appear to be very protective and dare I say paranoid about their resort. Why? I'm not sure and it isn't all BCV owners but there is a vocal group out there. They seem to think everyone is coming for their resort at 7 months. SAB is a draw although it is my least favorite pool right now. We can't relax there. At BWV we can sit and watch our son go up and down the slide, at SAB dear old poppa is up and down with him all day. Also just hard to keep a visual there on our son. Location, yes it is good but you know many times we like being removed from the parks and like to just relax and pretend we aren't at WDW. Can't do that at BCV.

There are many who love BCV for sure but we all aren't trying to book BCV. I've stayed at BCV 4 times now booking at 7 months. Never had an issue. I do not call day by day either.

Do I think AKV owners wil be scambling to get into BCV? No, I don't, AKV will have a lot to offer the guests. In some ways I expect it be better than the previous resorts because I'm sure there wil be some effort to make up for the location.

I simply think the system works and with some flexibility you can get into pretty much any resort most times of the year.

Time will tell.
