Is BCV truly worth more than BWV?????

I just scanned through the resales through TSS. (Hey you never know when I might be tempted:) )

What really jumped out at me is the big difference in price between BCV and BWV. BCV listings went from a low of $89 to a high of $99. BWV goes from a low of $84 to a high of $88.

This seems like quite a bit for a resort in really the same location.

I realize it is all so subjective but lets pretend I'm considering a resale. Convince me that either BCV is worth $5 - $11 more than BWV or take the other route, convince me it isn't worth that much more per point.

The obvious draw for BCV is access to Stormalong Bay. If you are a pool family, it's hard to beat summers at BCV, with almost a waterpark right at your resort.

I guess it's worth whatever people are willing to pay for it. :confused3

I think it's plain old supply and demand. The BCV is a small resort and fewer contracts go up for sale. The BWV is a lot bigger and with more resales, the price is lower for them.

We own at both and like the BWV more for a variety of reasons.

I agree - I own at BCV but have only stayed there 4 times since we bought. It was the idea of SAB that I went for but the rooms themselves don't offer anything more if as much as any of the other onsite locations. For some I guess the close proximity to EPCOT and MGM are also important but that holds for BWV also. Guess it is also because there are fewer villas so that may also keep the price up when combined with SAB and location. I am just really happy that all three of my contracts have held and increased in value. I hope I never have to sell them but at least I know I will get something back if I do.

BWV is worth more to me. I'm not a pool person, but I am a boardwalk view person.

We own at BWV. We stayed at BCV on rented points prior to buying at BWV. We'd be happy staying at either. It's the Epcot area, not which resort we're at, that makes the difference. As far as SAB goes, a pool is a pool. My kids would be just as happy swimming at BWV as they would at SAB. So we bought at BWV. The price was better, and we have the standard view option if we want to conserve points.

If DH and I can't stay at BCV even for a night or two in warm weather, I will buy some points there. For now, we're happy owning/staying mostly at VWL and BWV, with one visit to BCV. We bought when they were selling new BCV and BWV, and bought BWV for the standard view room option. That was worth more to us.

If you ever want a standard view (less points) room in the Boardwalk area, BVW is the place to buy...points are cheaper and they often go farther.

Did you factor in the size of the resale too, as well as whether they were stripped or not?

My strategy is the smaller contracts (especially the 25 - 50 point ones) command absolute top $$ via resale, moreso for entree into the "club".;)

I would agree. But I think the reasons are a combo of smaller (less contracts), new (owners paid more), overall smaller contracts (more add ons) and SAB. I believe that BWV is a far better value even at the same price for post people, mostly because of he guaranteed BW view and the lower point SV options. But if one wants a 2 BR dedicated with 2 queens, that could be a draw for BCV as well. Each will have to make up their own mind in the end.

Though I would stay there to be on-site if nothing else is available, I really don't like (detest) BWV, but love BCV. I'm not trying to bash, but I think that a hotel style DVC resort should have dining options that do not require you to walk outside and have far better inside shopping options. BWV has neither. I strongly prefer BCV for those reasons.

To me I wish I could put the verticalness of BWV in the BCV....I also think DR. is right about the dining, and who doesn't love the SAB...but my favorite of the 2 is still BWV...I(we)love it. But why get hung up on it, the whole thing is DVC offers you the flexibility choice. Buy where you think you would be happier, but don't worry you can always stay at the other if you plan ahead and you are flexible.

Not for us... we've stayed at both and I love both but BWV wins for me with the availability of standard or boardwalk  views. I also love the lobby at BWV and Community Hall.

Most views at BWV are better than BCV. Also, I felt SAB was way too crowded for my tastes. I like the quiet pools much better. I do love the marketplace at the Beach Club.

We originally were buying the Beach Club (had the contract from Disney) and changed our minds and bought a BWV contract from the Timeshare Store with banked points and we're glad we did (although thinking back we could have made a good profit on those BC points ;) )

Ive been to both and SAB is no better then the clown pool unless you like sand on the bottom of the pool. Other than that BWV is far better you don't see many from BWV walking over to BCV at night for the night life and kids love BWV community hall.

Our friends have their DVC membership at BCV and have stayed there once in the 6 six years since they've joined. They really have a hard time booking a stay.

Supply and Demand - Maybe there is soon to be a shift in the market price.

TTS has 24 BCV listings with several that say 'Price Reduced' and only 8 BWV listings.

Looks like the market may not think BCV is worth this much of a premium.

I think supply and demand is the primary reason for the price difference (fewer rooms at BCV than BWV) but it's not the only factor. Other factors that some people think make BCV more desirable than BWV could is the SAB swimining pool and the room service option. Still some people prefer the decor or BCV to BWV (I find them very similar and not different enough to be a factor). As far as location is concerned BCV and BWV just about the same.

But, at the end of the day it comes down to what a buyer is willing to pay.

I'm sure that over time the prices will ebb and flow.
