Is anyone walking the full???

I am so excited to be doing this. Along with working out to achieve my goal I will be getting healthier and that is so important.

Good Luck to everyone going in 2007.

Kim

Erica -- Can't wait to see you at the FINISH line next weekend! Congratulations on the awesome pace and Good Luck! :goodvibes

Kim -- Enjoy the training to train and the training. It is all so much fun and really a great learning experience. Through these 21 months of preparing for the 2006 1/2 and the 2007 full I have lost 65 pounds and kept it off and I actually have muscle definition in my legs.

You are going to love the improvements you see in your health and in your fitness level as you prepare for 2008!

Can't wait to share the marathon weekend experience with you guys in 2008! :grouphug:

Erica and I are staying at the Coronado resort from the 1st till the 12th and doing the full and of course the party at pleasure island. Where are the walking groups meeting for dinners and such? We partied last time at the 8 track.

We are members of a walking forum called the walking site, it's for all levels beginners to serious race walkers.

We are planning to walk the full in under 6 hours, since this our first to walk though anything can happen LOL. We are both enjoying taper maddness right now.

Dave

Thanks Kim!

I am really looking forward to adding Mickey to my Donald and then in another year add Goofy!

I have already lost about 25 lbs and gained tons of muscle, though I still have a ways to go til I get where I want to be!

Dave is really having a very hard time with taper madness, though he tends to blame me for being grouchy!

Erica

I wish I was doing this with you all you all seems like such nice people. Can't wait to hear how it all went.

I will be walking the Goofy again next week. In 06 I did a 3:05(14:22) & 6:32(15:00) walking. Those where my first races in 5 years since blew out both Achilles and had surgery on them in 2003. I have pics and others reports at my website if you want to see what it takes and their experiences.

http://www.DisneyRunning.com is the site. I will be bringing my camera and talking pics/videos of expo, half, and full. I will have my laptop and will upload that night after each race so look for them next week.

You have plenty of time. Endurance is the key. If you can get where you don't slow down much, you will do well.

Robert

We are South bound for the house of mouse. Yeah!!!!!!

Happy New Year everyone, we will be on the road for new years.

Our plan to take the top down on the mustang ain't gonna happen, it's severe rain all the way down, how delightful.

Safe traveling Dave.

Robert, I am interested in your story after Achilles tendon. Last year I suffered Achilles tendonitis and I can say it was sure something.

I can't seem to get the walking in correctly to where I don't hurt as much as I do when I lean forward a little and wog. For those walking, I'm interested in your technique.

Lily, I am just a standard power walker. I am 5' 10" and have a fairly long stride. I used to walk fast(er) before my injuries as I walked th 96 WDW Marathon in 5:09 and did a 50 mile Ultramarathon in 10:32:)

I hurt my achilles while running(not walking) a 50K trail race in 2001. I rolled the ankle at mile 15, worked through it, rolled it again with 3 miles left, and hobbled to the finish. It took 2 years, months of PT and many different Ortho DR's before one decided something was wrong and did MRI and scheduled surgeries. Once they did first surgery, right achilles was 50% torn and black and dying tissue. It had been that way for 2 years! Left achillies was just cleanup. He told me he would get me back to walking without pain but running was probably out. Circle of life as walked marathons and ultras for year, than ran ultras, and back to walking again. 14-15 min mile vs 12 min. It beats being 5 weeks on crutches, than 8 weeks in wheelchair, and back to crutches for 6 more weeks. 4 months of H@#$ made me appreciate being upright and I don't take it for granted anymore!

At least I can still do the Goofy:) Body hates me after 80 marathons/ultras in 10 years.

Watch achilles as if you don't take care of them, they will take care of you doing anything.

BTW, will have camera and laptop so will be adding photos the night after each race and from the expo(and meets) to my website.

See all soon and take it easy,

Robert

Robert, 5:09 is a super marathon time walking. We are walking at Erica's pace so we are planning just a mouse whisker under 6 hours. I have never walked one so I don't know if I could do better than that or not.

I'm hopeing to break 30 min for the 5K this spring.

Dave

We are doing the Goofy in 08. Disney is an annual event for us now.

Dave

Team Wild Gerbil

I did the full last year and hopefully will be able to complete Goofy this year. DH keeps saying to move on to other events, but now they go and introduce a new medal for Disney Marathon XV...so I just may have to do the marathon again next year.

My DW and I will continue to do the Goofy until our legs fall off or we are 6 feet under. We own so much DVC that we can spend the time!

Looking forward to the "Top Secret" Full medals! Made of Gold?

Looking foward to warm(Hot!) FL. Will be posting photos everyday after the expo and races each night on my website. See all of you soon:)
