Is anyone sort of sad IASW is not going to be open?

I have to admit that I am a huge It's a Small World fan! However, I might be in the minority. I can't help but remember this ride from when I was a kid and now i read it's going to be closed a long time for extensive rennovations :(

It was THE one ride that you could cool off and really relax no matter how old or young.

Is anyone else going to miss it? Guess I'll just have to come back once it's rennovated :)

Ladyandthescamp, I'll join you in the nostalgia. I too remember going on IASW with our family and my grandparents, and I'll never forget the look on my grandfather's face...he loved that ride. This will be the first time I've visited DW without going on that ride.

I will also be sad that I will miss IASW in September...although DH is ecstatic that it is closed. It's funny, though....he always says he can't stand it while we are at home, but he never hesitates to go on it with me while we are there! :teeth:

I'm actually VERY sad that it's going to be closed during our trip! I loved the ride as a child, and I still enjoy it (mostly because it is cool and relaxing on a hot summer day), but it is my kids' reactions to it that I will miss most. Last year they were 3 and 1 and you would have thought they were in Heaven when we were riding IASW. We have photos of their little faces just beaming with joy during the ride. We'll miss that special IASW magic this year!

I'll miss ITASW. Though it's not a favorite, it is a nice break from the heat and a pleasant boat ride.

It was time for major rehab and looking forward to seeing and riding after rehab.::yes:: :wave2:

I honestly have to say that this next trip just won't be the same without it. I love it. I love to watch my 2 yr olds face on it. She loves it. We were just there in Nov. and she was in awe. I'll definitely miss it this time.

Who knows it maybe better than ever. I am just glad we video taped it this past April. And the next time after this December we go, have to tape it again to see what the difference is.

I really did miss it on our trip last month. It's such a happy, relaxing ride, even if the song does get stuck in your head, LOL!

I'm pretty sad too. :( I was hoping to take my 3 yr old on it.

I think everyone who just hears those words it's a small world can start singing along, so yes, I will be sorry that it is not going to be open when we visit!

Yes! DD and I are very sad it will be closed! But, it does give us a reason to have to go back next summer!

I'm sorry but I never really enjoyed the ride. It usually just bothers me. Maybe it is just the never ending song.

If we go to WDW next winter, I would like to possibly wait until that IASW is open again. We don't get to go to WDW often and the thought of going there without it being open makes me sad. It's one of the very few memories I have of WDW from when I went with my family as a 1st grader (1980 or 81--something like that). And when we took our kids in 2002 (DS-6, DD-4, and DS-2), I literally had tears in my eyes as I thought about finally being able to make IASW memories with my own children. It was bittersweet and I want to feel that again!!!

I'm going to miss it, but I'm really glad it's getting a huge make-over!! It's about time!!

IASW is one of my favourite rides too! It's kind of sad that it's going to be closed but it really was in need of a rehab.

We just got home tonight and while we were'nt "sad" that we missed it, we would have ridden it had it been open. It is a tradition for us going back to my childhood trips to Disneyland. My husband made a point of "making it up to our kids" (or driving them crazy depending on how you looked at it) by singing the IASW song while we waited for EVERY other fantasyland ride.

DD will be sad, but I'm glad. It's a great excuse to go next summer!! Last year the Pooh ride was closed. I cried when we walked by ;) I love that ride.

I am not but I wanted my inlaws to experience it on their first trip.... I guess they will just have to go back :teeth:
