Is anyone on the Dream right now? How did a girl fall overboard?

and that quote is why I'm surprised charges were not filed
Prosecutors decide not to charge for many reasons. I guess the main question is -- to what end? What would be the goal of criminal prosecution of the mom, other than to put that family through heck? There could still be civil charges to recoup expenses and I wouldn't be surprised if DCL has banned them.

to punish the person responsible?

to punish the person responsible?
I understand that. However on the flip side it also punishes the victim as well, because the person responsible is the girl's mother. I don't see anyone "gaining" anything from dragging her through criminal charges, and the damages to the child would be worse.

I'm sorry. I just don't buy into parents should scott free when they make their children their victims.

They could go after the family for the money that it cost to rescue the child and father. I am not sure if they could really calculate that since they used resources already on the ship. I am thinking of the case in AL where the woman falsely claimed she was kidnapped and she had to "pay back" the city for the resources expended.

I'm sad for that poor girl to have truly an idiot for a mother. :sad2:
I wonder if the girl is going to doubt her mother's advice and suggestions. The mom will wonder why she won't cooperate.
It's all so unnecessary.

Prosecutors take on cases they can win.
and kind of world do we live in when they can't win if she admitted to encouraging her child to climb up there as sit on railings prior to that moment? She might as well have said she told the 5 year old to go play in traffic

I heard a commercial today to the effect that our grandparents didn’t use their typewriter in the car so we should be putting down our cell phones. So much of this should be common sense. I chaperoned my daughter’s 1st grade dance. I watched as the other chaperones took photos and videos of the happy kids to post on IG. I stayed back to deal with the kids crying because the music was too loud, kids who were beating each other up and kids still hungry. I’m one of the older mothers and wondered where the common sense is.

ETA I am not perfect but tend to think of what can go wrong.
