Is anyone from the Madison, WI area?

DH & I were just talking about moving places, years down the road, and Madison, WI, or some of the surrounding suburbs came up. So, I was just wondering what it was like there. Whats an average price for a new home, 3000 sq ft about? Whats a nice area, nice schools, etc?

I can't help you with the cost of living, etc because it's been years since we've lived there, but how to you like friged winters? We lived there the first 2 years that we were married when my DH was in grad school and we would have considered moving back, but didn't because of the winters. It sure is beautiful, though, and we loved the town. Nice summers!

We live in the Chicago suburbs now, so we're used to the winters. I don't think its too much difference from here. I actually like the snow!
