I am looking at a Delta flight that connects in MSP next summer. The flight arrives in MSP at 10:40 am on July 2 (Saturday) and the next flight departs just 50 minutes later at 11:30 am. They are both Delta flights so I'm hoping that they are both on the same terminal. However, I've never flown through MSP before and I don't know if 50 minutes is enough time, assuming the departing flight leaves MEM on time. I'm thinkingthat leaving that early on a summer morning there won't be a weather issue (thunderstorms), but worried about it being a busy travel weekend.
We will be arriving for a cruise in YVR 3 days early, and there are other flights from MSP to our final destination later that day.
My other best option is a flight through Seattle that has a 2-1/2 hour layover,
it leaves Memphis at the same time but arrives 1-1/4 hour later- and costs $90 per person more.

TIA for any advice!

MSP is a very easy airport to navigate and 50 minutes is enough time. We have moving walkways to get you down the longer terminals. Delta does have 60% of the gates at MSP, so it may involve some walking, but you will be fine.

Enjoy.

As the OP said Minneapolis is fairly easy to navigate - although it is large ... MSP is a Delta hub and keep in mind you may arrive at one concourse, while your departing flight may be in a different concourse across the terminal (the Lindberg terminal has 7 different concourses: A, B, C, D, E, F and G) If that is the case, it will take you approximately 20 min if you hustle and use the moving walkways.

If the first leg of your trip arrives MSP and parks at a G gate with a low number or an F gate and your second leg departs from the A or B concourses, it can take at least 20 minutes to traverse the airport to get to the second gate. You will only be at an A or B gate if one of your legs is on a delta connection flight as they are designed for the Saab 340 / puddle jumpers. You can still make it though.

Thanks for all the good advice everyone. We can hustle through an airport- do it at Dallas and Atlanta alot, so I think I will go ahead and book this flight. :)

RJs also fly out of A and B, and I've had to connect from an incoming RJ at G to an outbound connection at A or B. Be aware that Delta generally will shut the doors 10 minutes before scheduled departure, so you really have only 40 minutes to get from one gate to the other.
