Hi - we started getting the pressed pennies for our DD4 on our last trip in Jan. 2002. She's kept them in her jewlery box and loves them. Now others have started to get them for her as well. On this trip we were going to go with a roll (or 2) of quarters to get some more pennies and the pressed penny book to store them. Are there any fun tips or secrets to getting these? Are some chracaters (on the pennies) harder to find then others? We thought it would be a fun "in-between" thing to do while walking around - like a pressed penny scavenger hunt ;) We're looking for some fun insight on the Penny World :p Thanks!!

Love to collect those pennies.
These is a place where you can get a list of all the pressed penny machine in disney.
I cannot remember where I found it but I do think it is in the Disney site if you go thru search.

If I remember the correct address I will get back to you

Ok can someone please let me know what a pressed penny is?
Where do you find them, and what do you do with them?

Thanks

Jakesmom--a pressed penny is just that. There are machines ALL over the WDW resort. In theme parks, hotels, shops, DTD etc. You put in a penny, and 2 quarters, and it smushes (for lack of a better word) the penny into sort of a football shape, and embosses a picture of a character, or landmark on it. They are a pretty neat, and fairly inexpensive souvenier. Our 5YO DS adored doing this last time, and he already knows how many more he needs to make to fill up his book.

One of the machines in Toontown (Farmer's Market) has baby Mickey, baby Minnie and baby Donald Duck and Baby Goofy. But that is the only machine that has baby characters. This was as of last year.

Make sure to try and get pre-1982 pennies (they're of better make). You'll also want to clean your pennies prior as well to make them nice and shiny--can't remember the exact proportions but just add some vinegar to some water and give them a nice bath :)

There's a WDW pressed penny book at the parks for around $7 that will hold I think 45 pennies?

The tubes that M&M minis come in make great quarter and penny carriers. No more loose change!

My boys love the pressed pennies! The new, shiny ones work the best--the penny collection book is $6 and available at most of the gift shops. :bounce:

Does anybody know where I can get the book for the pressed pennies in the park? I assume I can get one at one of the big souvenir shops right on Main Street in MK, but does anybody know of a specific store or location? THANKS!!!!:Pinkbounc

Also, sorry I listed that website again above. I didn't read all of the previous replies before I posted.

Pretty much all the shops carry them. If you have the list, any shop that has a PP machine will sell the books.

When we were in DL last year my son and his Dad had a blast looking for the penny crunchers and collected quite a few, about half a book. Now where ever we go we look for the machines and they are great and cheap memories

This trip we will start our 4th book of them! (we have 3 penny and 1 quarter books filled!)

We discovered this last Christmas. Both my boys had a blast looking for the machines and pressing the pennies. We now have some from Kennedy Space Center and the Milwaukee County Museum as well. They are all in the WDW book, but at least we haven't lost them!

Looking forward to adding to the collection.

Im'm excited to look at the website where all the pressed penny and quarter machines are- my daoughter has been doing it for two years and has tw full penny books and one full quarter book. She takes them out at least once a week and reminisces about previous trips and where we have found them.

It's also a fairly inexpensive souvenier and easy to transport back home.

I LOVE THE PRESSED PENNIES AND QUARTERS!!

I have one full book so far of pennies...I just started collecting them last year! :)

Another good penny/quarter carrying tip...use the black film containers that film come in....great way to carry around your change. And don't do like I did...get YOUR BOOK first thing--I would get a penny or quarter and stick it in my pocket and before I knew it, I would misplace them. :(

I am going again soon and Im gonna try to get all of them...IM ON A PRESSED COIN MISSION!!! (and Im 30 years old) LOL:tongue:

Does anyone know of the UPDATED site that has been updated this year instead of 2002???

WE NEED A NEW LIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
