Or someone who does billing and coding?

I have gone back to college for this and I have an assignment in my English class to interview someone who is already in this field. Is there anyone here on the DIS who would be willing to "talk" with me through email about your job? The only personal information I would ask is your full name and where you work so I can cite my source, all other questions will be job related.

If anyone would be willing to do this please send me a PM with your email, or we could do it through PM on the DIS if you'd prefer.

I am a retired nurse and have had MANY jobs including medical offices. From my observation the medical coding dept appears over worked and generally unhappy.::yes::

Just my two cents worth.

You could talk about things like this:

o Do you do the same things (like sitting at the computer all day) versus varied activities (some work at the computer, some work in a room full of files, some work examining lab equipment and lab results)?

o Do you work mostly by yourself or in small groups?

o What are some of the more stressful activities and circumstances?

o Do you come into contact with patients and need to spend talking with them, reassuring them, running errands for them? (You probably do not do anything involving physical contact.)

o Would you mind relating some of the funniest or some of the most outrageous phone calls you have gotten from suppliers? From patients?

o If you were the head of this office, what would you do differently from the way things are done now?

Because this is an English class assignment I do not think you need to get into any detailed medical terminology.

Those are good questions, but the assignment is to actually interview someone who works in that field so I need to find someone to talk to.
