Is an ADR for 8 hard to come by?

After reading the post about the LeCellier 2 vs 4 post I am now wondering the situation for a party of 8. I'd assume it's pretty simple to just put two 4s together but I'd also assume it's pretty simple to know to put a party of 5 at a table suited for a party of 6 and a party of 2 at a table for a party of 4 if that's all there is left.

What has been your experience with a larger party?

Can't you book ADR's through Grand Gatherings for party of 8 or more. I am sure that is what our friends do when they go with family.
