Our printer/dock also charges the battery as well as powers the cameras. It doesn't require a computer to be connected to it. The docking capability was just an added bonus. The thing I like best about the EasyShare cameras is the fact that they are easy to use, fit in your pocket and are inexpensive.
Myself, I use the Nikon Coolpix 8700 (8.0 megapixel) which has so many buttons/features/etc that sometimes I find myself getting confused.
Since buying our first digital camera in 1998 we have over 30,000 pictures. I can look back at the files and see each upgrade of camera. Those early pictures didn't even hit 1 megapixel and in comparrison to one we've shot recently it shows.
