Is 57-58 Old?

Too some it may be, but I never thought it was that old.

As I say Good-bye to my 3rd HS buddy this year.

When your saying Good-bye to your 3 closest friend in one year, somehow you realize how short life can be. I am devastated. I thought we would all grow old together, sit around and talk about our younger days and the fun we had.

From the "vantage" point of 7 years, no it's not old but I feel your pain. I lost 3 long-time friends last year and its indescribable. I just don't have any words that will make things better (wish I did) except that time does help. My thoughts are with you.

How sad Mamu...and no 57-58 is NOT old.

I remember when my father died suddenly at 48 everyone kept commenting on how he was SO young. At 23, I didn't realize the full extent of what they really meant. I think at the time, I was concentrating more on how suddenly he died and how I stilll needed him. Now, at 37, I think of how YOUNG he really was.

I consider late 70s- 80s to be old. Any death earlier than that is too young, IMHO.

My sister is 60 and if I lost her I'd lose my mind! It would seem so unfair.

I'm not far from that age, also, so I've finally reached the age that I call it YOUNG!

No, it's not old.
DH and I were discussing this the other day. I've lost two good friends in the last 2 years and so has he. They were all around mid 40's.
My FIL died suddenly and unexpectedly at the age of 65 and we felt that was too young.
I'm sorry for your losses. I know it's hard.

Mamu, I'm sorry you lost your friend. I know how you feel. I lost a very very close friend three years ago and she was only 51.

My DH lost his brother last year. He, also, was 51.

No, 57-58 is NOT old, Mamu. I'm sorry about your friends. I lost a good friend I went to school with. She died in a car wreck when she was 17 yo. That was 14 years ago and I still get sad thinking about having lost her. Any age is too young to lose a friend.

No that is definitely not old.

I am 47 and I can't believe how many of the "girls" from my grade and the ones right before and after have died in the last year.
It seems that once a month I open the paper and have to say "Oh no not another one"

It is really scary to think about. So I am adopting the philosphy that life is short, go on vacation, don't worry about the housework so much, live a little while you still can!

That's my age and I still don't think of myself as old. I am feeling "older" in some ways, but I hope I still have many years ahead of me. As I get older, though, I am more atuned to what is really important in my life and worry less about what's not.
