I am a "newbie". We just purchased in August at BCV (yes, paid $80 per point!)
After hubby and I do our first trip in March (4-day cruise), we will have 104 pts. left to do a 4-night, one bedroom in HH. Looking at end of July. Given that it's summer and activities in full swing, will 4 nights be enough?
Our options are paying cash or going with a studio, but we all have our hearts set on the 1br (my DD8 "wants to stay in one of those apartments!") We are NOT golfers and and do not shop on vacations. Will mostly concentrate on the beach and resort activities.
What do the experts think? natt

We took a 4 night trip to HH at Sea Pines before we were DVC members and although it is always nice to have longer it was a very enjoyable trip. From what I read here HH may be very difficult to book at this time of year at the 7 month window although I do not have any personal experience. There are more 2 bedrooms than 1 bedrooms or studios. Good luck.:D

2 days is great. 4 is perfect. I think longer than that is almost boring. It is a well designed resort but I am one that likes to keep busy on vacation as well as relax. I spent 5 nights there this past June and I was itching by the end of the trip to leave. I think it is worth visiting just not longer than 4 days.

I would call as soon as possible if you want a 1 bedroom. There are not many 1 BR's there and the end of July might be tough. Our 1st trip was booked at the 7 month window for a 2 bedroom in July and we had no problems doing that. We added on at HH so that we could use the 11 month window and arrange for a 1 bedroom in July.
Depending on what you're looking for, 4 day may be okay. We spend 6 nights and it doesn't seem like enough to us -- DH would like to spend 2 full weeks there....maybe someday. We are not golfers or shoppers either but find plenty to do there. The kids love to catch crabs off the pier at Disney. They love the games arranged through Disney. They enjoyed trying to catch the little crabs around when the tide was low. We love to ride our bikes back and forth to the beach. We enjoy strolling along the beach in the early AM or in the evening. We love the beach combing and dolphin tours. For the most part, we have had wonderful experiences with both. For us, its quality family time which turns out to be very relaxing.
Because we have the kids, we have found that it's easier to cook in the unit -- I never thought I'd feel that way since I hate to cook at home but at the end of the day we're ready to just kick back and relax (the kids tend to want to go back to the pool too). If you think you might want to do meals in your place, a studio might be a bit tight to do that -- although I haven't seen them.
Whatever you decide to do, have fun. You'll love HH.

I called MS today just to check availability at this time and it was already tight - my window does not open until December! This is beginning to get me stressed:( If I want to look into August, then I'll have to wait until January! Do you think I have a better chance in August as back to school gets closer? natt

There are a total of 21 1BR villas (and 21 Studios) at HH. There are 76 dedicated 2BR villas and 5 GV's. The summer months are a very popular time- especially from mid June thru mid August.

Many have reported success getting studio and 1BR villas during these dates even at 7 months by using the wait list.

You might have a higher chance for success with an August ressie, but unitl you call- you'll never really know what is available at any given time. You can also use the rent/trade board to try to trade points or reservations with a HH owner who could possibly get the dates you want before 7 months.

Good Luck! HH is a great resort. We have gone for 7 nights at a time for many years now and have never run out of things to do on the island. There is truly something for everyone!

Enjoy!

We stayed at HH for 5 nights last June. It was not long enough. With great kid-friendly restaurants, guitar players and the actvities at the resort in the evening, and the fantastic beach house and pool, boating activities and relaxing during the day, there is plenty to do. We left very sad, as it seemed that our trip was way too short. I guess that is the definition of a great vacation.

I just got back from Hilton head and all I can say is WOW!!!! We were there for 4 nights (in a GV) and the kids were in heaven. So much to see and do.

They are pretty good about offering the different classes a couple of times a day, but sign up early if your going "in" season!

I cant wait to go back and spend a whole week there!
