Is $37 a lot to pay for a haircut?

I watched how they cut my hair for enough years to copy what they do, and I just grab the scissors when it needs trimming.

I know, I'm "cheap" - but in a GOOD way!

But I know they do a much better job.

Maybe that's why it's in a ponytail most days...LOL

I just went back to my old salon, when we moved I tried ones here but none could ever get it right. So my 40.00 bargain just wasn't.

So back to Newbury St in Boston. Wash, cut & blow dry - 150.00
If I do color add another 100.00 but at least i know it will not be freaky when I leave.

It all depends on where you live.

My hairdresser charges $50. I generally tip $8 on top. She's at what I'd call a "midlevel" salon.

The higher end salon's around here charge $75-$125 for a cut.

I pay $65 for a shampoo, cut, and dry. Tip is extra.

I think you have to have really *good* hair to go to a less qualified stylist. I know many people who have decent haircuts who pay less money, but they have great hair and it kind of doesn't matter what they do to it. I spent 3 years looking for a good stylist (in Woodbridge, VA) and couldn't find one. That was several years ago and I was paying about $28 per cut at the time. I finally had to get my hair cut closer to the *big city* and they have done a wonderful job with my hair, although it costs me. I've found that the graduates of the Graham Webb school do a great job, but they work at the priciest salons.
