Irrational Disney fears.

I will not ride anything that straps me in anymore because of fear. The last time I rode TT I freaked when they locked my strap and you know where the CM has you pull on the lap belt to make sure it is locked before you take off...I started to panic and told the guy to get me out and he said you will be fine...in my head I knew I would be...but it was something about feeling trapped that sent me over the edge. Its really sad...I use to love all rides...now I just watch my family. Nothing takes away the fun of disney for me though. Just as long as I am there I am happy! :cutie:

This is me...I have to actually take them out of my pocket and look at them every so often...I am like this at home about locking my door...I have to phisically lock and unlock it several times to feel sure I locked it and same thing with my alarm clock...off and on several time to make sure its set...sad huh....also if I leave the room for any length of time and I left my drink cup in the other room I will have to get a new cup and more drink...not sure when or why this all started

I have OCD too. I do the same things along with drinking from a different glass everytime.

I saw a couple people mention OCD about the tix and I'm the same way, except with the entire groups. I always collect them, and collect the fastpasses and keep them with me at all times, constantly checking numbers. I am a certified nutjob when it comes to this. For some reason, I don't trust that the people I have with me can keep track of anything.

I never should have read this thread. Now *I'm* getting new irrational fears!

OCD tickets, OCD plane tickets, OCD on the reservations, OCD on everything!

OCD on the kids! OCD on the OCD of the OCD to the OCD.

I have an irrational fear of falling from high places....that is why I stay away from ToT :scared1:. As for the big drop on Splash or riding with my hands up on Space, I have no problems with that....I just hate the feel of free falling.

i'm much taller than my fiance and when we ride anything with a shared lap bar i fear she's going to slip out...especially on BTMRR!! so i uncomfortably twist me knees out so my legs are as flat as possible and the bar comes down as low as possible. havent lost her yet!

Me and DH were riding Dueling Dragons at IOA (it's one of those coasters that goes upside down) Anyway, they were making sure everyone was strapped in, and my DH reached over and tugged on my shoulder harness (that had some play in it) and told me it wasn't on all the way. SCARED ME TO DEATH!! The ride started and I knew I was going to fall to my death....he was laughing the whole time, because he was teasing me. I can still kill him over that!!

I have a fear that we arrive to find our reservations have been cancelled and there is no availability at Poly.

That actually happened on our last trip!!!

We didn't realize that we didn't pay in full for the trip, so Disney tried to call us to let us know that we needed to pay, but my mom just got a new phone and had no idea how to check voice mails!!!! We got on our flight, got to MCO, got on ME, and then we got to ASMo and they said there were no reservations!!!! After a lot of blood, sweat, and tears (and also some awesome CMs!!!), we got an AWESOME room in the Toy Story section behind Woody! Awful experience in the beginning, but wound up having a splendid time anyway!

Sorry, back to the actual thread.

I do have an irrational fear in Disney though. I'm terrified of touching/falling into the water on the water rides. I'd love to be a JC Skipper, but the water terrifies me... I can't swim and hate water so that might be the trigger. That, and the need to get a tetanus shot after falling in from all the bacteria!!!

In Test Track, I am always afraid my car will get stopped in the hot room. I hold my breath in that room, waiting to get through it. I don't mind small spaces but hate feeling trapped somewhere hot. I have no fear of the cold room, though.

The irony here is that the cold room is the room to worry about! I've been stuck in all three rooms (Test Track broke down ALL THE TIME during the 1999 soft open) and from personal experience being stuck in all three rooms I can tell you the hot room is the one you WANT to be stuck in. The lamps cycle on and off, so the heat isn't constant...unlike the consistently chilly cold room, or the corrosion room (where the robots wind up spraying you over and over again).

The best was probably the crash test room though. The car stopped, the doors cycled open and shut...and THEN we launched forward! I really thought we were going to be true crash test dummies that time...

Being stuck in the shrinking room at Haunted Mansions and everyone screaming over and over and over. :scared1:

Wow! I hope you gave him a few love whacks afterwards!! My fiance would KILL me!

The scariest thing about Disney is the PLANE TO DISNEY. I DO NOT TRUST PLANES AT ALL. I'm terrified it'll just fall right out of the sky. If people were meant to fly then they would have wings.

I wouldn't call it OCD because every single trip without fail I lose my Key To The World card in Disney or leave it in the room by accident. I've gotten much more relaxed about it at this point. This past trip I knew I had left it behind and only had to walk down the hallway to the room and use my sisters key to grab it off the table. I don't think it will be a problem anymore because I keep both my ID and KTTWC in the wallet section of my camera bag. I know they're safe in there.

I'm terrified of both the monorail and Space Mountain. I absolutely despise them but I know I'm safe in Disney and even if they freak me out I'll go on the monorail is necessary and I ride Space at least once every trip.

I'm afraid of falling from large heights (as expressed by my plane outburst up there ^^^^ ) so I don't even bother trying to go on Tower of Terror although I enjoy the story and movie :D

I'm always super paranoid that I will leave my cell phone or camera on a ride. I wear a cell phone pouch on one side and my point and shoot camera pouch on the other and I always check both pouches as I'm climbing out of ride vehicles...even if I don't take either out on the ride.:confused3

A friend of mine left her camera in the storage pouch on Indiana Jones (in DL) and she realized it when we were halfway out of the exit. We went back and mentioned in to a CM and, luckily they let her check the ride vehicles as they came back around (and others were getting out of the jeeps) and she found it about 10 mins later!

One of our friends is a CM at DAK and they go to WDW all the time. They were with some other friends and they actually DID get stuck in the hot room....for about 10 minutes. :scared1:

I read this thread and thank the heavens that I'm not alone.

I now leave mine back at the hotel and get DF to carry the important things. If I were to take things with me I'd do nothing but check myself over and over again. They'd probably get security onto me because surely I look like I'm some weirdo frisking myself :lmao:

I get OCD about checking I have my tickets.

I've had many a moment where my hearts in my mouth. DF doesn't trust me with tickets.

Maybe I'm the only one who has any type of irrational Disney fear... but mine is that I am so afraid of being under a monorail when it passes by. I am paranoid that one day one is just going to zoom off the rail and crash and I'll just happen to be standing underneath it when it does. If a see a monorail coming above me, I get the heck away from that monorail. :sad2: I know it's crazy, but I can't help it...

I'm with you on that :scared1:

I will confess that I triple check my seat belt lock while on tower of terror before we start to drop:scared1:

Triple check and still manage to convince myself that this is the end.

 we have the same problem. I'm considerable smaller and it worries me everytime

I hate flying but my love for disney overrides the 9 hours flight.

I was on Space Mtn in DL last year and our ride vehicle stopped very close to the end, but we were still in the dark with the music on. We were stopped for awhile (maybe a minute? More?) before the music was turned off and lights came on. In that time that we were stopped, I was CONVINCED (as was my friend sitting next to me) that we were going to be rear-ended (and injured) by the vehicle behind us. So, now my fear is that something like that will happen again. (It was freaky, I'm not going to lie) :scared1:

I also check for tickets a zillion times throughout the day...

Soarin - I feel like I'm going to fall, and like my shoes are going to fall off.
Space/Thunder Mountain - I feel like my hands will hit the above rails and stuff.
Test Track - Get stuck in hot/cold/corossion room, or right in front of the semi truck...
Dinosaur - Getting stuck in front of the loud/scary dinosaur.

I'm not an engineer, but it seems to me that if the monorail derails, it will still have some forward motion, so it won't fall directly next to the track.

So now they only have to worry about walking in front of the monorail. So always look over your shoulder when you are walking and a monorail is approaching. :rotfl2:

It doesn't stop me from riding and I love the thrill, but when test track goes outside and we are racing toward that 65 mph...I think,..what if we don't make the turn and fly off the track!

Whenever my kids are anywhere close to an attraction loading dock or body of water (no matter how small) I always panic that they are going to fall over the safe edge.

I don't want to tell you this but it continues with grandkids. And it will never stop with your kids. You will always feel like that.

And I used to laugh at my mother for her reaction when I went too close to the edge of something. Now I am my mother. Sigh.
