Ironman

Ok, just back. some of the violence was a bit intense, but both boys -- 6 and 8 -- were fine with it, the 6 year old getting antsy in parts, and at the end.

Movie was FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!

And the bit after the credits (it's a loooooong wait, but worth it) practically made our Marvel Universe crazy family whoop for joy!

Most people prefer a weapon you never have to fire. I prefer a weapon you only have to fire...once. Thats how god did it, thats how America does it, and its worked out good so far.

Thanks for the reviews. DS, almost 5, is begging us to see it after seeing the commercials and the toys everywhere. We were waiting to find out some reviews from "real" people (not critics) before deciding what to do. DH really wants to see it.

Mine are three (almost four), six, and 11, and they weren't the only little ones in the theater by a long shot.

IMO, the reviews on that site leave a lot to be desired. It's subjective on what one family finds offensive another one won't.

First of all, that kids review is ridiculous regarding the sex rating. Those kind of folks are repressed if you ask me. ha ha There were no naughty bits showing ever. I wonder what actual nudity would have bumped the rating to. ha ha For Goodness sakes the rating even said "a man and a woman almost kiss and appear to be attracted to each other". THAT IS A PART OF THE SCORE. ha ha ha oh man.

Second, yes Tony Stark is supposed to have a cameo in the Hulk movie as himself... I am not sure if we'll see the Iron Man suit.

I have to agree - If Ironman is the most offensive thing your kids have seen then they have lead an extremely sheltered life.

Here's another site to try for movie reviews to help decide what you want to take the family to see
http://www.pluggedinonline.com/movies/
They spell out what potentialy offensive things happen and draw some conclusions, but they aren't as prudish as you might expect. The reviewer liked this movie. Seems he felt the "bad stuff" set up the character for redemption, so it was a good lesson.

Aside from the obvious violence, the only scene that I thought was the least bit objectionable (for parents who are thinking of taking younger kids) was the one with Stark and the journalist near the beginning. Even that one, however, wasn't that bad. It involved some fully-clothed kissing/making-out and then jumped to a scene with the woman naked in bed but mostly covered (all private parts covered) with a sheet. You then see her walking through the house wearing only a long-sleeved shirt. Other than that the only reason I would hesitate to take a younger child would be because I would be afraid the wouldn't be able to follow the storyline.

Going to see this Tuesday, can't wait. And will definately stay for the credits, thanks for the heads up!

I believe he said, that's how DAD did it.

Saw Ironman last night at the Drive-in. WOW! It was a great movie! I've always like Robert Downey Jr. as an actor and he really made this part.

We are already planning on seeing it again in the theater. :thumbsup2

DH is a Marvel FREAK and he was counting the number of possibilites it could bring. The kiddies and I aren't to far behind in the Marvel madness, so DS13 and I knew what the extra scene could bring to the big screen.

The previews fo the new Hulk movie look sooo much better than the last one they put out. We'll be going to that one as well.

I went to see it this afternoon and WOW!!!!!!

I've always been more of a DC Comics person, but I've also read some Marvels, primarily Spider-Man and the X-Men. I'm familiar with Iron Man but never a huge fan. That said, this movie is definitely one of the best comic book adaptations ever. Up there with the first Batman Begins, Spider-Man, and X2. Great story and great casting.

As for the post-credits scene -- I heard rumors about Samuel L. Jackson doing a cameo as Nick Fury but also heard it ended up on the cutting room floor. So much for that last rumor. Honestly, I wouldn't mind if they skipped on making Iron Man 2 if they went straight into an Avengers movie on one condition: they have to include Captain America.

I honestly thought Robert Downey Jr. was still in jail.

Boy was I wrong!

He looked great, and he was perfect for the part!

The "Hulk" trailer was blah!:snooty:

Ah, Robert Downey Jr. did not let me down. I cannot imagine anyone else doing such a superb job with the role. The subtext of his own life was brilliant.

I would like to know why bald is now the new black hat of film. Shave your head, become a villain. . .

I also thought he was perfect for the part because that part is so like him. Loved the movie. DH made me stay to the end, which was very hard after the large Coke I drank. But I was glad I did.

Matt - this article hits on what you want. It also explains the very end a bit for those not familiar with all the Marvel comics. For those of us who love superhero comics on the big screen, we're about to be very happy.

I have never been a big fan of Robert Downey Jr. but after this movie I take that alllllll back!
This is one movie I could have easily seen twice in a row. Hope to see it again while it's still on the big screen.......

Saw it Saturday and LOVED it! RDJ did a kick-butt job. So funny, and yet believable as an action hero. I thought the effects were terrific!

If I had three thumbs, they'd all be up.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
