Ironman

I went in preparing to dislike this movie, I'm a comic fan and I do blame him for Cap's death lol, but I really did like this movie (I did laugh out loud when they called him a patriot) BUt the movie was excellant. We sat for a long time but the credits seemed like they'd never end, now I"m mad we didn't stay.

Could someone PM me the end scene after the credits> PLease and Thanks

I was thinking of taking my 6 and 8 year old boys, but I worry that the Tony Stark lifestyle (naked women, alcohol) will be too mature for them, and I also am worried that the violence may be too much (too graphic). They have seen Spiderman movies and Fantastic Four, but we have not allowed them to see Batman Begins.

Any advice?

I took my five year old. He had no problem with it. There isn't any nudity. There is one brief scene with a man and a woman in bed (woman kind of "jumping him" and another with a sheet wrapped around her naked body), but it wasn't bad. I think most of the lifestyle things would go over your 6 year old's head. Not sure about your 8 year old's. There is drinking, but characters also speak against it.

It's pretty violent, and mini spoiler in white: there is a scary scene where a boy's father is about to be killed, but is saved. None of it really bothered my 5 year old, though.

I would say the violence is on par with Spider-man. For the record, Batman Begins is the best super hero movie ever made. ha ha I don't think it's more violent than Spider-man.

WOOT.

I saw the preview when going to see Ironman.
I was surprised when the entire theatre clapped.. AFTER A PREVIEW.
Shouts and cheers too.

And i might have been one of the ones screaming. :upsidedow

I agree with you about BB -- it's fantastic, and anyway, Nolan had me at CHRISTIAN BALE.:lovestruc

The violence may not be more graphic (bloody, gruesome) in BB than Spiderman, but IMHO it is more scary and intense, especially the Scarecrow.

Thanks everyone for the input on Iron Man!

DISUNC,what you saw after the credits is alluding to a major part of the Iron Man comic books.

oooooooooooh Thanks.:thumbsup2
I never read Ironman comics.:guilty:

Man, I thought a lot of people were still in the theater at the end. Should have known. Will someone please PM me with info on the last scene?

Great movie anyways! I love Robert Downey Jr.!!!

I'm probably the wrong person to ask on this one as I defer most of these choices to my husband, I'm not a comic/superhero person, he is. The closest I've been to Spider-Man is the ride at Universal.

Mine did see Batman Begins, in IMAX no less.:rolleyes1 Our middle one begged to go see it, she fell asleep a half hour in. Our youngest one crashed out early too, which left DH, the oldest, and me. I left with the sleeping baby and the oldest with about a half hour to go, I couldn't take it anymore and the oldest was coming unglued.

Everyone did great at Ironman though, we did talk before we left that there might be some scary stuff and if there is we close our eyes and it will be gone soon. Found out my three year old has a love of heavy metal music too, color me surprised. :scared1: The six year old is coloring pictures of Ironman now with little hearts all over it. :rotfl:

Iron Man was terrific. I have made it a habit of ALWAYS staying through the credits on any movie, just in case they stick some extra at the end. This one was well worth the wait (like X-Men 3's end). I now have The Incredible Hulk and The Dark Knight to look forward to!

saw ironman today - glad we stayed for that final "scene" after the credits!

DD15 saw it on Friday night with her bf and the rest of us saw it this afternoon. We give it 4 very enthusiastic "thumbs up"! The casting of Robert Downey, Jr. was genius! He was fanTAStic. We did stay through the credits (a habit of ours anyway) and watched the extra scene. We're all now eagerly anticipating the announcement of a sequel.

Here is what happens in the final scene after the credits. Click mouse and highlight to read.

Tony Stark comes home after the credits and speaks to Jarvis who answers but in a slowed down speech. A voice standing by the window says "I am Iron Man...I am Iron Man...do you really think you are the ONLY superhero" as he turns to face and walk towards Stark.

We see it is Samuel L. Jackson (uncredited in the movie) wearing a patch over his left eye. He says that he is Nick Fury with SHIELD and he would like to talk to him about the AVENGER Initiative.
The screen goes black!

Hubby said it was the best-acted movie like that he's seen, and as far as I know he's seen them all!

I don't know if he stayed to the end, but....

I have made it a habit of ALWAYS staying through the credits on any movie, just in case they stick some extra at the end

...I know he agrees with that. Ever since Ferris Bueller, honestly, anyone leaving as the credits roll is chancing missing something good. And that's been added to with the POTC movies. I mentally tsk tsk those leaving before the credits are done! (though sometimes I'm disappointed...but they usually have really good music during the credits, so I don't feel I wasted my time...maybe me "tsk"ing, but not my time)

I just saw it and really enjoyed it! Loved Robert Downey Jr, his performance made me like it more than any of the other comic book movies that have been mentioned.

Hmmm, based on this review, it's looks to be PG 13 for quite a few reasons and my kids < 10 won't be seeing it.

FYI...according to imdb.com, Robert Downey, Jr. has a part (as Tony Stark) in the upcoming Hulk movie. Since the Hulk was part of the original Avengers perhaps it is another set up for a possible sequel.

I just took my kids 9 and 6 to see it.

Mine are three (almost four), six, and 11, and they weren't the only little ones in the theater by a long shot.

IMO, the reviews on that site leave a lot to be desired. It's subjective on what one family finds offensive another one won't.

First of all, that kids review is ridiculous regarding the sex rating. Those kind of folks are repressed if you ask me. ha ha There were no naughty bits showing ever. I wonder what actual nudity would have bumped the rating to. ha ha For Goodness sakes the rating even said "a man and a woman almost kiss and appear to be attracted to each other". THAT IS A PART OF THE SCORE. ha ha ha oh man.

Second, yes Tony Stark is supposed to have a cameo in the Hulk movie as himself... I am not sure if we'll see the Iron Man suit.

Most people prefer a weapon you never have to fire. I prefer a weapon you only have to fire...once. Thats how god did it, thats how America does it, and its worked out good so far.
