Have a question about the "Undercover Tourist" iPhone app...

when clicking on the "Orlando Theme Park Maps & Wait Times", right now (10:30 a.m. on 7/29/10), it says there's a 25 min. wait for Space Mountain and Peter Pan's Flight. Winnie the Pooh's next at 20 min. wait, while Big Thunder & Splash Mountain both have 15 min. waits.

Today MK had AM EMH, so how can those wait times be accurate?

Epcot has PM EMH, but right now Soarin's wait time is listed as 40 min., Test Track has 35 min., Mission Space has 20 min.

Hollywood Studios is showing 80 min. wait for Toy Story Midway Mania, 60 min. wait for Tower of Terror, 55 min. wait for Rock n' Roller Coaster & 25 for Star Tours.

Animal Kingdom is showing 25 min. wait for Killimanjaro Safaris, 20 min. for Kali, 20 min. for Dinosaur & 15 min. for Everest.

-------------

Looking for an app with "pretty close" wait time estimates..... We'll be there in 4 days!!!!!:cool1:

I use the WDW Wait Times app and have always found it to be accurate.

You want Lines from TouringPlans.com
I think it's by far the most complete iPhone app of its kind. And because, as far as I know, it has the broadest installed base, it's likely to have the most accurate wait times (because all such apps rely on crowd-sourced information).

Is it the WDW Magic - Disney Wait Times & Maps Edition for $1.99? If not, what is the exact title? all "disney-related" apps tend to be confusing.

this one doesn't have good review, esp. for wait times...

It says it's a FREE app, but it says "THIS IS A MEMBERS-ONLY APP FOR TOURINGPLANS.COM SUBSCRIBERS. Features may be limited without a subscription"

A subscription is $10.95.

What will I be limited to if I just want the free app? I think they should just charge a little for the app to make it full featured for everyone who wants to pay.... $10.95 is just a little too much for most people....:confused3

I guess it just depends on what your time is worth to you. If a better app with more accurate wait times (and now including show times as well) is worth two in-park snacks to you, pay the subscription fee.

If the two snacks are more valuable to you, get a free app and deal with its limitations.

The program itself is free. What you're paying for is the dynamic data that TouringPlans.com is constantly collecting and running through complex statistical models, which is precisely what makes it more accurate than the alternatives. Basically, you get what you pay for.

The other thing you are getting from lines is all the research over the past years and regression equations that they have created with the unofficial guide. While it uses input from people in the parks they start with their database history of trends on line times. It's all the research that they used in creating the touring plans. Having been in MK the week between Christmas and new years, I am a complete believer in the plans. There is no way in that level of crowds you could do it without their plans. They really do work. They are also updating the parade/show times and creating crowd calendars for each of the parks.

I have the free version by VersaEdge Software ..I find it fairly accurate.

In the App Store: search under WDW Wait Times.

thanks for the input everyone!

I can ALWAYS count on fellow-disers! :thumbsup2

I downloaded the free version and the restriction is that you only get full access for, I think, 5 days. After that time period is up you only get info on a few rides in each park.

So you pretty much have to register and pay to get any use out of this app.

The problem is....they're all "unofficial," WDW won't allow anyone to have access to official wait time. :(

Well that and usually WDW doesn't know the wait times. ;) How many times have you gotten in a line that states 40 wait and it only takes 10 min to get through the line. :lmao:

shoots! I downloaded the free version and looked at it yesterday - Guess my 5 days started already. Our first day in the parks will be Tues. 8/3 -- the last of the 5 days -- so if it looks good enough, I may just buy the website information.

One of the things I like best about WDWLines is that in addition to accessing the predicted wait time, you can also access the actual WDW wait times as they were input from other "Liners."

There is a way for you to become part of the app by inputting the WDW posted wait times as you are touring around the park. FWIW, I found the predicted time to be more accurate than any of the WDW posted times...WDW pads them a bit.

The Lines app was very helpful for us during our June trip. I found it extremely accurate, easy to use, and entering the posted times was really a lot of fun.

There is also a "chat" feature that helps you connect to others in the parks, and those that are living vicariously through you from home! :thumbsup2

Has anyone used the 'Disney World Wait Times, Dining and maps by Undercover Tourist' published by Phunware Inc.?

It sells for 3.99 and has pretty good reviews... seems like this thread has lots of folks leaning towards the TouringPlans.com app, anyone have a comparison?

Thanks so much!
Emsamom
