Besides cost, what is the big difference between these two? I'm looking at wi-fi only, 16gb. I've looked at the Apple website to compare. Unless I'm missing something the only difference I see is the size and weight (but it's not even that much).

Wondering if this would be something a college student would get a lot of use out of. Thanks!

I have neither but I have the iPad2. I thought about getting the mini instead of this but I am glad I didn't. My reason is because the screen is bigger.

Some people like the smaller size but for me I have the smaller size in the iPhone and I wanted something bigger, almost laptop size.

The above is a pretty clear comparison chart.

Size is totally dependent on the person. Some love the bigger screen, others want more portability. I have an iPad 2 and would prefer it to be smaller, but I bring it with me places a lot. My iPad 2 does not fit into my bag easily.

I traded in my iPad 1 for an iPad Mini. I like it, esp since its faster and has a camera. I wish it was a little bit bigger than it is though. It's so much easier to carry around than the large heavy iPad 1, but its also more difficult to see with my aging eyes (It seems like I'm constantly having to adjust the screen). The best part was the price. I really didn't want to spend the extra for another style.

Also depends how u r going to use it. Will u take it with u daily? Then I'd say the mini. I have the air - it replaced my netbook and I love it - the mini is small - I also have an iphone and use that out my ipad stays home unless I'm going to a hotel or away for the weekend

Have you looked at these "in person"? There is a significant difference in the size of the screens.

I own both an iPad 4, and an iPad mini. The mini stays in my purse most of the time to get used at work, etc. The full sized iPad gets used mostly at home. If I could only have one though, I'd choose the full sized iPad. Even my 3 year old DD prefers the larger iPad for playing her games.

My kids LOVE our iPad Air. We have a Griffin Survivor case on it though, which eliminates all the weight savings. I think it still feels like a brick despite the Air name! But I would still choose the larger screen over the mini any day.

I too am trying to decide which to get.

I have a $500 Apple gift card.

I currently have an iPad 2 but it is wifi only and several places I have been going lately do not have wifi (like my son's sports practice :sad1:) so I am looking at getting something with 4g capability.

However, in trying to decide, I have been carrying around my iPad 2 more often to see if the added size would bother me.

I have a great bag, a Timbuk2, where the iPad slips in the back pocketed area and the rest is for my regular purse stuff, it is like this one, but a couple years prior in style:http://www.ebags.com/product/timbuk...earchTerm=timbuk2+classic+messenger+2013+-+xs

That added shoulder strap cover is SO comfortable!

We don't have an air, we have a second or third gen? iPad and 2 iPad minis. I love the mini. So much easier to old and to type on.

We have had all versions (1-4 + air) of iPad and both versions of the mini at our house. Our verdict is that the size is going to be up to the person. I like the mini size better. DH likes the full-size version better. Depends on how you use, wear you use it, and even the size of your hands. :)

I have the iPad Mini and I definitely like it. I used to have a 1st generation iPad and I almost never used it. I gave it to my dad when I got the Mini. My Mini does have Verizon service (that costs), but I take it places I go and use it. It also creates a WIFI hotspot and it works, but I rarely use that.

I got the Mini partially because it was significantly cheaper than a full sized iPad, but I also like the size better. It is more portable, and easier to hold and just more comfortable for me than a full sized one.
