I was just curious if WWOHP is still really busy? Last time I was there was June 2010 and we managed to get into the previews before WWOHP actually opened officially. I fortunately have the opportunity to go back to IOA, unfortunately, I only have one day, so I want to maximize my time. Is WWOHP still really busy? Should I go straight there at park opening? Or is it less busy at a different time of day?

Just curious if anyone has any touring plan suggestions for a 1 day visit to both IOA and US?

Thanks in advance!

WWoHP always seems busy at least, because the area is so small. Best time to hit it remains first thing or last thing in the day.

As for hitting both parks in one day, it is far from ideal and not the way I would recommend touring UO. If you just want to hit a few headliner rides in each park, then you can probably make it work.

Thanks. I figured first thing in the morning would be the best time for WWOHP. I have been to IOA and US many times and have done both parks in 1 day. We know what rides we want to do and which ones we are willing to skip.

Then you're good to go. :thumbsup2

WWoHP crowds have fallen some from the first year or so, but it's rare to see the area not "look busy" at least. If you have any flexibility in your days, the best days in general are Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays--particularly in the offseason.

We are more than likely going on a Wednesday in mid-September, so I am hoping it isn't too busy.

One last question. After completing WWOHP, should we go straight to Jurrasic Park? Or should we go back to the Marvel area? We want to reduce our wait times as much as possible.

going in mid september on a wednesday will be a good time to go.
i have been there in that same time period before.

line waits are nothing like peak times!
you'll still have some waits in parry hotter due to the early entry of the hotel guests but you shouldn't be facing 90 minute waits at all.

since you are right near JR, it is ok to hit that section next before working your way up front.

for me, once i leave parry hotter land, i go staight to marvel.
the lines will still be decent if you hit it around 10ish.

when guests come into the park, they usually zero in to either HP or marvel.

Would anyone suggest purchasing an express pass in mid September? I think it will just be a waste of money as the parks will not be busy. My mother in law on the other hand wants to buy them.

Wait until you get there and decide. You likely won't need them but if you're like me and just can't tolerate the lines, they are often cheaper than buying online. I've seen them for as little as $25.

i would not buy them in advance.
if it rains, you wouldn't need them. the lines thin out when that happens.
and, the park should not be that crowded.
if it would be, epp can be bought while in the park that day.

when you say middle of the month, not sure which dates will be involved.

i pulled this up for the 3rd week

https://secure.universalstudios.com/webstore/shop/ViewItems.aspx?CG=UO&C=IUEP

the epp is based on date and park.

the epp varies from $19.99 to 29.99 in the dates and parks above in the link.

if you wanted both parks epp, looks like the cost is $35.99

you can only use the epp once per ride or show.

came back to edit and let you know the dates above reverted to the original dates on the screen.

all you have to do is list the dates you are considering the epp and it will show up for you to check out.

Sorry to bring back this topic, but I just heard that Universal extended it's hours the week I was planning to go with exception of the Wednesday (the day I was planning on going).

In terms of crowds, would there be a big difference between Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday in mid September?

Thanks in advance!

I'd still attempt to avoid Monday if you can, but as MW says it probably won't make much difference.

I was actually thinking of going Tuesday. But Undercover Tourist's crowd calendar has IOA as the park to avoid on that date. Not sure how acurate the Undercover Tourist crowd calendar is though.

In mid-September neither park is very crowded during the week.
