We want to let everyone know we are getting married in Disney and find out who would be interested in coming to Disney or just the reception in our hometown. What type of casual invitation should I use and what should it say?

I'm actually doing this now. I'm sending out save the dates, but with an RSVP. We're doing an intimate so there's definitely a strict guest limit. So I wrote on the bottom, something like, due to guest limitations, if you will be unable to attend please RSVP by xxx. I figured this way was easiest because I want to get guest list set, and allow people plenty of time to make arrangements.

Thanks. We are getting married June 08, but I want to let people know asap so that I can decide what I am doing. Do you think it would be bad to just say: we are getting married in orlando in June 08 and would like to know if you would be interested in attending. We are a close family so I don't have to worry about formality as much.

I did a newsletter with all the information on costs, activities, etc. So people would know more before making their decision. I've gotten alot of great response from it.

Thats a great idea. How far ahead in advance did you do it and what type of newletter was it?

We put together a little booklet announcing our engagement and Disney wedding that we sent out at the end of the summer. They stated that Disney would send them the hotel/ticket info and that Disney's mailing would be sent out in a couple of months. We also made up postcards (already stamped and addressed to us) that we inserted in each booklet asking people to fill out and indicate if they thought they would travel to Disney and which hotel would they pick, etc. We told them that we needed their answer to make sure we reserved enough rooms at the special rate (which got us a lot more cards back than anything else we could have said).

I have just one bit of advice that I can not stress enough - come up with a system to identify the post cards when they are sent back WITHOUT names!

I had actually thought about pencilling in a number on the back of each card and assigning the number to a guest but decided against it because then I would have to make note of what card went into what envelope, etc. Anyway, I have received 80 out of the 93 cards we sent out back. Of those 80, we have 23 "dingbats" as we affectionately have named them who did not answer question number 1 on the card (Please Print Your Name:_______).

And yes most of the dingbats did answer yes to the question "Add my name and address to the Disney mailing list".
