Invasion of the Millionaires!

In December of '01 Dfamily and I were there in the 700 loop. A rather large Prevost pulled in 2 sites down with 6 kids and an infant! Their toad was a 15 passenger van. Bikes, Trikes, chalk, you name it was there.

These folks had their bus laid out like a band tour bus. They had 3 bunks on either side (6 bunks in all) just forward of the master suite.

We were 2 doors down in a pop-up! That's the beauty of Fort Wilderness!

They were fine, the irritating one was the little snot across the way constantly asking my DS4 why our camper was so small (and our pop-up is large). I finally told the kid "that's the way we like to camp!

We're going back in Sept 26 - Oct 7 - can't wait!:cool1:

There are motor homes that cost over a MILLION dollars? I think I'm going to faint. Wow.

Motor homes kind of freak me out, they are just too big for me to drive or feel comfy riding in, so I'm not jealous (I love our Coleman tent and find it amusing to watch people watch us unload our VW Golf when they required a minivan or camper or RV, LOL), but I AM amazed that they can get that costly! Wow. :)

I was down there on the 15th for the day, and saw the sign "Prevost" in the parking lot and lots of RV's. Was wondering what that was about!

 MHO walt would roll over if saw entire loops Gated to cater to millionaires........

How many 1-5 year olds do you see in those pics??????

Where are the tri-cycles and red wagons???

Does prevost have triple bunks?

If you look back at the start of wdw the fort was created to cater to the blue colar families and the monorail resorts created for white colar families.......

I sure do miss walt:sad1:

No nasty

No prejudice

Walt you created a beautiful thing in the fort, where all are welcome

The campground is for everyone. You have million dollar rec vehicles and tents. I slept in my car once. :) Then I got a tent for my birthday!

Everyone think that Prevost is a million dollar unit, but Prevost is just a bus shell. Companies take the basic unit and turn that shell into the million dollar motor coaches that you see today. Prevost only make units with 2 slides. So about 3 year ago I order a new Newell with 4 slides.

Prevost only make units with 2 slides

Prevost actually only produces the bus shell, which are then converted by manufacturers such as Vantare, Millenium Coach and Parliament, some of these converters are now make 3 slide models, won't be long and you probably see 4 slide prevosts. The Newell coach is definetly top of the line - they are built from the ground up.

Stillh2o: When are you going show us pictures of that Newell :yay:

I've seen entire loops rented by church groups and other groups and I've seen other rallies at FW. Sometimes the loops are 'soft' gated and sometimes not. If you have the desire and cash, Disney can make it happen.

If my lotto money ever comes:rotfl: I don't think I'd want one of those big rigs. They either look like the inside of a refridgerator or a rolling French bordello to me! Don't like all those mirrors and all that chrome!!

BTW... al other things being equal.... chrome OR red paint makes things go faster.....

They can be custom ordered with or without anything you see. The stainless exterior is classic, I just dont like the gaudy paint schemes, mine will be a dark burgundy single color with no graphics, the custom double deck Featherlite trailer will be painted to match. The series 60 Detroit diesel is available in higher than 500 hp so we would have to upgrade that to at least 600 so I can pull the trailer up those big hills.
Dont worry fellow Disers, I wont become a snob ! :lmao:

All this talk of group camps and all begs the question, why not a Disboard rally ????? Talk amongst yourselves.

I love this. We are, and look a lot like, more like the pop-up guy. This is the beauty of FW. We all put our pants on one leg at a time. Mine happen to be Levis, theres DKNY. But we can all enjoy the FW. :goodvibes

The irony is that I buy $14 Wrangler jeans at Walmart and wear them while I am looking at million dollar motorhomes :thumbsup2

Ya gotta love this country :woohoo:

I really don't see a problem here. These people paid alot of money for a three day stay and had a block party for their group. Part of that, one would assume, included meals and drinks for their members. So to restrict the area for themselves and to keep others for enjoying something they did not pay for is logical. Besides, Disney would have to OK everything in the first place, so if it was ok with them it's ok with me. There seems to be a tone of jelousy in this thread. Why? If these people have worked hard for what they have good for them.
By the way, I'm just a construction worker who has watched my boss put his house on the line to receive a bond, to get a big job. He got it, the company is growing, we the workers have job security and we are paid well for our efforts. I could not do that, the stress would kill me. Thats why he is where he is today. So if he decided to go buy a million dollar motorhome, all the power to him.
If you are not happy with your station in life do something to change it, but don't dump on those that have. I've seen my share of people start out small and grow their businesses with alot of personal sacrifice. The only difference between them and I is I'm too scared to leave my comfort zone and take that leap.
Sorry about the long rant, just my two cents.

Chris.

We were there March 9th and the 1600 loop started filling up March 10th most of the people we talked to where leaving March 19th.

Okay DisCamper fess up: Your smileys have a Prevost don't they? How else can they set-up the awning and the dish on the roof from inside the rv? :rotfl2:
Look I don't think anyone per-say is jealous of folks who make the big-time. (Heck. we all would like that) What I think people are most questioning is the fact that FW is always open and you have the freedom to roam, explore and meet your neighbors. Then all of sudden the freedom to roam and explore is taken away and blocked off from others. It just kind-of seemed un-Disney and un-camping like. Anyone who has been camping for while (even a short while) know that part of the fun of it is being able to walk around and talk to folks that you normally walk by everyday with a second thought. Camping is a world where most folks are friendly and talk to each other and even show-off their camping equipment from a awsome RV to a cool tent.

Great pics and a fun thread. As others said, it's no big deal that they had a party on their loop. I'm sure it was covered as Disney certainly knows how to charge for things, by their fee. I love looking at the huge Prevosts and Newells etc. They are amazing and I hope we ALL have fun at FW. FW would be a great place to have a rally. hmmmm

The last picture tells the truth! They had to turn in their rental million $$$ and go get the pop-up for the remander of the stay!
Boy REALITY BITES!

My only concern after reading some of these posts is, will we all be able to share a loop or 2, or will we have to be segragated by income, or the class of our camping equip??? :rotfl: :confused3 :rolleyes1
