Invasion of the Millionaires!

I really don't think it's that big of a deal if they blocked it off for that one night. If this happened all the time, that would be different.

I'm so not a millionaire, but if you have the money, I sure would have something like that. I don't get why there is some negativity directed towards them, in the end they're just another person at FW.

Seems like the negative comments come from the Big Rigs that can't get thier 4 slides and awnings out.....:lmao:

MHO Walt did not design the fort to cater to 40 ft anythings....

You tell em Colson39. I've seen all kinds of tents, travel trailers, horse trailers w/ living quarters, pop ups and million dollar rigs here and could care less who owns them or what they have. As long as we enjoy camping and spending family time it don't matter to me.

I honestly don't have a problem with them blocking the loop. The organizer called probably 500 days in advance and said I want to book xx number of sites and we would like to have a catered event also. They called the appropriate length of time in advance and paid the appropriate amount.

Many places around WDW are available for private events. Adventurer's Club is closed till 9pm many times for private parties, I've seen attractions closed certain times of the day for private parties, and many areas of World Showcase get blocked off before Illuminations for private "desert" parties.

This is just SOP for WDW.

Dont hate on the rich people.... I hope to be one someday, it wont be from my current profession though :lmao:

I just looked at the pictures again, probably the reason it was actually blocked of is because of the catered event. It looks like it covered part of the road. These roads are one-way only and they didn't want folks to accidently pull in there and not be able to get back out.

I don't think it was an "exclusive" type block, more of a safety thing.

Good Question!! Let's have a retreat for pop-ups or TT's less than 20ft and see if WDW gives us a private loop.

Actually, I was hoping to organize something similar to that with a teardrop group in a few years. (Teardrops are usually no bigger than 5x10)

Teardroppers have gatherings all over the country that could easily fill both Loop 1500 and Loop 1600 if organized early enough. Granted, we probably wouldn't have a catered event, more likely just a pot luck dutch oven dinner.

they blocked it off for one night because they had a "street party". it was all booked like a convention and had the entire 1600 loop, most of the 1700, 1800, and 1900 loops. They had it open all week they were there and actually encouraged people to go in. Prevost had "show" vehicles (1.7 million dollar price tag and you had to take your shoes off) that they allowed people to walk in and look around and also some vendors. But the people were very nice.

I have this patch from a 1979 Holdiay Rambler meet that was held at the Fort. Don't know the details about that event, but rallies aren't new to FW.

Well TCD looks like we just missed you, checked into the Fort on 3/19, got site 869, checked out today:guilty: . On my way down from Knoxville to my folks in Ocala I must have seen almost all of those Prevosts heading home on I-75 Saturday. Had a great time by the way the weather was great and everything was perfect, unless you ask a boat driver. Watching people try to park TT is often called a spectator sport, DD, DM and I watched several cruisers(Castaways and Mermaid) make several(3-5) tries at docking against the wind:happytv:

Did you see many with bunk beds in them or children playing in them??

How about a baby crib or a tricycle or a skateboard???

Any sidewalk chalk or micky balloons.....no uno cards or board games either prolly.........

Give me the partial hookup loop anyday.....JMHO:thumbsup2

So wait, is this your way of saying that Disney World is really only for children? Well dang I better inform FH we can't go back since we won't have any children playing or mickey balloons!

I was kinda amazed at some of the responses here. Who cares what rig people have, or what they do or don't do while at the Fort. Yes, seeing different camping groups camping is interesting but geeze, making assumptions about what or how people are because of thier individual campers is better left for those "other" types of boards. I'm sure they had just as much fun in their rigs as everyone else had in their own rigs, JMHO, but I'll get off my soap box now.

Me too! It sounds like some people just automatically assume they won't like people who have a Prevost or other high-end rig. For years when we camped in our little TT at the beach we parked beside a couple with a Prevost. Got to be pretty good friends. Some of the nicest people we've ever met, and I can say that about most Prevost owners we've met during our travels. They certainly don't treat their non-Prevost neighbors disrespectfully!

Not amazed here with some of the reactions.

I know people who can have a PREVOST for every day of the week. Some you would not be able to tell that they could and others make it known they could.

Just because the grass is greener on the other side of the street does not mean there is tranquillity in the house.

So, let me see, rich people don't have children, their children don't sleep in cribs, nor do they play with balloons. And rich people don't play Uno or board games, because obviously that would be way beneath them.

I never knew that only middle class and below people could have children and have fun, silly me!! :rolleyes1

P.S. Oh, and YNotTony, that's a very cool patch!

Well folks, we always stay in a TENT. No popup no Provost...just the rock hard ground for us. We've been staying at FW since it opened...and have met grand people of all kinds in vehicles and rigs and tents of all kinds.

If it matters to one what another is staying in or driving, IMO it sounds as though that person has a seious case of something nasty.

Part of the FW experience is walking around the loops and just seeing what is going on. In January, not much but some great Christmas decorations by the big rigs...in July....holy buckets watch out for the bikes!

It's just such a fun place and our tents have changed over the years, but as long as God is wililng, we will sleep ono the ground.

I still find tent camping in Fort Wilderness to be one of the coolest things you can do, although it's been years since I've done it. I remember as a kid, we used to tent camp every once in a while at the Fort, and I've camped numerous times when I was a Boy Scout at the Group Camping area they have at the Fort.

In fact, back in 1991, we stayed at the group camping site, and it was us and about 3 or 4 other Boy Scout troops. We were there for I think 3 or 4 days, and it was tons of fun, UNTIL a nasty case of pink eye spread rapidly through the campsite. Almost everyone in the campsite came down with a case of pink eye by the time all was said and done.

Still, waking up after a cool night of semi sleeping under the stars, and then heading to the Magic Kingdom, those are some good times right there :)
