completely off subject but your avatar reminded me of something. Every so often on my way to work in the mornings I see a guy in a black 67 impala. His tag is Winchstr. He doesn't look like Dean though

I’m from Ohio. I really think they could have come up with something better. Still think it’s all ridiculous why they had to change it anyway.

Cleveland Blues
Cleveland Spiders
Cleveland Bulldogs
Cleveland Barons
Cleveland Buckeyes
Cleveland Crusaders
Cleveland Rockers

All those sound better.

They could have brought back this song. River Inferno. It's catching fire with everyone!!!!! Although naming them the Cleveland Pretenders after Akron's finest would have been nice too.

The Pretenders would be a good choice, in more ways than one. BUT, they would need a new stadium in Richfield Township, like the Cavaliers once had.

Well....here in oregon, minor league ball we have one team called the Hops, that organic for brewing beer and oregon leads he world in hop production....the salem team is called the volcanoes...because over centerfield looms a huge volcano

so I am thinking the Famers would have been great for a ohio team....Portland has the trailblazers....try rolling that off your tongue ..though soccer time Timbers, like Famers is fun to yell

I like the name and it makes sense to me - I like that they picked something that is from the city. I don't particularly care for the logo or the fonts they are using, but I'm glad they changed the name. It was long overdue and I think it's interesting how upset certain people are over it.

I was kind of rooting for the Spiders, but apparently that team had the single worst record in major league history (20-134), so maybe the organization thought it was bad ju-ju or something.

As a life long Cleveland Indians fan, I don't hate it. It was one of the better options that had been floating around. It will take some getting used to, I mean I still call Progressive Field "The Jake" lol. What I hate though is the new logs with the baseball and flying G, no no no. Hopefully they can work on it a little before the official change next year. At least they are saving some money since Guardians and Indians share the same last 5 letters, lol

If I were the decision maker here I'd go in that direction.

I was looking online to see if I could make a connection between Indians and Guardians. And I'm not trying to start anything here, but I did find a couple of odd items.

- There is the Native American Guardians Association, which is a group that, for whatever reason, advocates for keeping the offensive names of teams like the Clevelands and Washington Football Team. So probably not the best connection there.

- And here's a fun (read: not fun) look at the Guardian Program for Native Americans. Also kind of depressing.

Now I think it's a stretch to connect these two things to the new team name, especially since they've explicitly tied the nickname to the "Guardians of Traffic" statues, but I wouldn't be surprised to see some (ahem) disturbers that try to turn this into a thing.

I’m glad they changed it. IMO, Guardians has a good meaning and I like that it has significance to the city, not just a random name or one chosen because it starts with an I or a C. It’ll likely get shortened to Guards, which isn’t bad either.

Agreed, l like that a lot too, but unfortunately think it’s too close to Colorado Rockies. Lakers would be good too, if not for the LA basketball team.
