hi!
my name is jen and i'm from massachusetts. My DH and I are planning a trip to WDW in June 2008. I know its probably a peak time of year but i work in the school system. so thats the way it goes...hehe. My DH has never been to WDW or even been on a plane! I've been to WDW about 4 times i think.
I'm super excited and i'm a huge disney fan!
We're looking to stay in a cheap but nice off site hotel and stay for 6 nights.
anyone else traveling from massachusetts?
what do you think the best website is to get good travel deals for hotels and flights?
thanks!

Welcome to the Dis, how exciting a first trip for your DH. We live in CT and usually fly out of BDL, but depending on where you live in MA sometimes its cheaper to fly out of Providence RI. We usually don't stay off site so I don't have any suggestions there. Hope you find a good deal!

Welcome!
I'm Jen as well, going in Feb. I don't have too many ideas for the off site hotels, we are staying at POP for the perks (Extra Magic hours, transportation, etc)

Happy planning!

Welcome to the boards!!!:cheer2: :cheer2: When we stayed off site we always used a timeshare, but have you looked into the value resorts? I believe in June the rates are 119 a night. It might be less I'll have to look, but I don't know if you find one off site much cheaper, but if you do you have to take into consideration, parking per day, and I think I read somewhere on here it's gone to 12 dollars a day (correct me if i'm wrong anyone), plus when staying in disney, once you get there if you aren't going anywhere besides disney, you never have to get back in a car. If you are flying, and into MCO disney has complimentary transportation to your hotel so no rental car bill. Plus you get 3 extra hours at night, and 1 extra hour in the morning to be in the parks. Me personally choose to stay nowhere else but on property b/c of all the perks, and I thought it was chea once you added everything in. Any more questions feel free to ask!!!

oh I just checked and value resorts are 109 per night for a standard room in june.

staying on site is the way to go you will waste so much time traveling back and forth  and if you are a big disney fan you are not ganna want to leave:) lots of luck with your decision

hi Jen,
I'm also from MA & am planning an April '08 trip. Can't help too much with the airline question because we usually fly out of NH (DSis lives there) but check Air tran. I flew to VA with them last month & the prices were good. The previous posters were right about onsite perks. Check into prices for value resorts - do you belong to AAA? We usually book with them for the pkg discount & the Diamond card. The card gives a few other discounts - ie discount at the World of Disney in DTD.
Also, you might want to get quotes from online agencies - you can compare them to the price on Disney's website. Keep reading the boards & you'll be able to plan a great trip. Happy planning!:)

Hello Jen !

I agree that Airtran also has good rates..I would look into the prices of the offsite hotels. I researched them all a few years ago and it was the same price to stay at Pop Century (or any of the other value resorts) than to stay offsite. In fact, the value resorts were for the most part cheaper ! So do not be fooled that offsite hotels are cheaper........even the days inns over by Universal were $89/night and Pop was $94. Staying at a resort hotel also has its perks like the Magical Express. If you stay offsite, you have no choice but to rent a car..........

Just a few things to think about......no matter what, there is no "BAD" time in Disney !!! It is truely magical and it is my ultimate HAPPY PLACE!!

check the swan and dolphin for lower rates since you work in a school system.

Hi Jen ! We're from Ma., too. We just returned from WDW on Aug 24, and we flew Jetblue out of Logan. We bought our tickets back in March, and we paid $99 each way. My DW and DD took the train, but with a sleeper, it is more $. Like the PP say, the values are a great place to stay, totally Disney, and a lot less expensive. We were thinking of staying offsit this past trip, but my 2 kids )me, too !) wanted nothing to do with it !! Good luck !! :thumbsup2
