Has anyone ever been able to book an onsight resort through Interval World. They list about 5 of them in the book, but they don't seem to be available whenever I have inquired. Is there a trick to getting in?

If you are trying to trade into Disney Vacation Club, it is a difficult trade. The DVC resorts are Beach Club Villas, Board Walk Villas, Villas of Wilderness Lodge and Old Key West Villas. New resort not yet opened is Saratoga Springs Resort. Also there is Vero Beach at Vero Beach, FL and Hilton Head, SC. You have to have a DVC member trying to trade into your timeshare to get one from DVC.

We were told one year in advance minimum to book. We have a two bedroom w/lock out, I am not sure if that matters but it makes it so we can trade for a two bedroom, one bedroom, or studio so that may help us. I have only tried once (and failed). I plan to just rent points from a DVC member- it is easier to find by far. Seriously thinking DVC should be our next big purchase... I think DVC is not often traded in.

I have a friend who uses Interval exchange and she always gets Old Key West. That said, she manages to do it every year!! And she is not a DVC owner, nor does she know anyone who is. I think she just plans way in advance.

:sunny: We had booked thru II for the Marriott Cypress Resort in March 04 (which is awesome resort too), but then I changed reservations when I saw availability at OKW for 2 weeks straight in January. I hopped right on it and changed those ressies. I have since peaked at what is available on the online II site and have seen OKW a few times throughout the year. I believe I booked OKW in May/June of 03. We truly lucked out and I am soooo jazzed ::yes:: My family doesn't get it yet, but they will when we arrive. :teeth:

My recommendations for getting trades into a DVC resort would be to keep checking daily on the II site for availability and book immediately when you find it. Be open and go for it.

You never know when availability may pop up for OKW or any other DVC resorts.:sunny:

HAPPY HOLIDAYS

Thank you for your pointers, my sister just used our week and stayed at the Marriott Grand Vista and said it was really great, we have just become accustom to staying on property and like the transportation aspect of not having to drive much. We are new to Interval and haven't learned the ins and outs yet. Any advice is welcome. Thanks!

You can almost always get OKW in the offseason if you have a decent trader. If you put in a pending request you will have a better choice of resorts, but I consistently see OKW on line which only happens after all pending requests are matched.

This year I traded my Marriott lock off portion for a 1BR at OKW in January, but we had to cancel due to sickness. Had a choice of weeks in January and last year in October/November. There is an additional charge of $95 per week for transportation for those trading in.

DVC changed some of their trading policy this year, so other resorts now have some availability. I do not see these online very often, so I guess people have submitted ongoing requests.

I think that you can do it pretty regularly, but you won't be staying in the summer or holiday weeks.

We have tried for the past 2 years to use II to stay onsite in May, and nothing was available. In 2002 we stayed at Westgate Vacation Villas, which was ok, but definately not great. This past May we stayed at Marriott Grande Vista which was very nice, even though all we could get was the studio.

I traded my timeshare into Interval and got Old Key West for a week in less than 3 hours. ( on a pending request)::yes::

Thank you! Do you have to make a pending request on the phone or can you do that online? What time of year did you go and how far in advance did you request yours?

I traded into II on a Friday at 3:30. at 7:30 the same evening they called back and I thought they had missed some info. But in fact they were calling me with a match. He even said DVC is very hard to get how long have you been waiting? When I said 3 hours I think he about fell off his chair! I just had said any January week DVC. Good Luck!

We will be checking into BCV at DVC on January 14th into a 2 bedroom. We traded our timeshare, (Worldmark or Trendwest), for it last fall. We have seen BCV and OKW off and on for the falll and winter. We have found that you just have to be diligent and check frequently. Good Luck. Debby
