I still find trading out somewhat intimidating, mostly because I don't really understand the system.

How do I know which season a particular II resort falls into when I'm booking? Do I have to find this out from Member Services?

Thanks for any help......anyone have experience with the Boston Marriott Custom House trade?

Only DVC can say for sure what a given trade will cost (what season it falls into). My best guess is it's High season for Marriott Platinum and Mid season for the rest with not Low season. That make it High Season April through Oct. But given it's the only resort in the city and the Marriott seasons assigned to it, it would not surprise me if it were HIgh season all year round. Still, the difference in points is not that much. This will be a tough trade for a non Marriott given the internal II preference that Marriott owners have.

In general one can look at II's resort directory to find out what weeks are red, yellow and green. You have to look at II and not the DVC-II listing to find this info. If it's red, assume it's Mid or higher. Then you just have to find out what's prime season for that those resorts. While most resorts in a given area will be the same, that's not always the case. Each resort determines what their seasons are independently.

In many ways you don't have to understand the system, but you must investigate the resorts to see what will fit your needs and what you find to be a value to you. Then place a request by dates for any resort/time that fits your needs.
