Sooooo, I've read a thread on here that states you can upgrade your existing online 7-day ticket to an AP,...which in turn, can significantly lower your hotel room.

Right now, I have a Supersaver rate of 311.20 (weekdays) and 327.20 (weekend) for a water view concierge room for our trip to Universal on March 17-25, 2009.

If I upgrade the ticket, how much would I be saving?
How much does it cost to upgrade a ticket?
What are the AP rates for these days? (where can I see it on the website?)
How do I go about doing all of this?

Also - I have AAA. Would this get me a discount on the AP's?
Would I have to go through AAA to get upgrade my tickets to AP's? (can I even do that)

It cost me $85 to upgrade my ticket. However when I first booked our room the SS rate was the lowest $259(back in March). Eventually the AAA rate lowered $226 so I changed it to that and just recently-within the past month I found an APH rate of $144. (Dec 21-26) It was a significant savings for us but the cheapest rate didn't come out until right before our trip. To find out the APH rates for your dates just go to the Universal website and under hotels choose the one u are staying at (u didn't say which) and under Promotion code enter APH. As for AAA rates I get better results using the AAA website and then calling the hotel directly. I don't think AAA offers a discount on AP just the 7 day tickets. Just remember to check back often as rates change. I was so surprised when the APH rate lowered that much. Good Luck.

pixie....thanks for responding so quickly.

I went to the site as per your instruction, and went through all the hoops.

It states that an APH rate would be 368.00, which is significantly higher than the SS rate.

You said that their are APH 'special' rates that come out periodically? I thought the APH rate stays the same throughout the year?

The APH rate was higher when I first booked so I didn't even consider upgrading but for some reason I decided to recheck prices periodically and finally it came way down. It's very easy to change too. I just called the hotel and they refunded my original deposit and charged me a new one based on my new rate. I have of heard of others though that the hotel simply added the "overpayment" part of the deposit as a hotel credit.

AAA membership does not give you a discount in buying the AP's

Sorry, probably stupid question. What's APH?

I am looking to stay at RPH June 9-12. We will be at the Contemporary at Disney the previous week using the 4 day, 3 free promotion, and going to the PRP princess: pirate: party so we are looking to buy the AP since we can't get to RPH till the higher rate kicks in. . Can you use AP and the other codes like APH or AAA together or do you have to pick one or the other?

Also, with preferred AP- you only need 1 card to get the room discount and ticket discounts right? However, for the meals at RPH does it discount meals for all 5 people or just 1 person?

Trying to figure out if AP best deal (we are out of state and won't be back again or if we should use another code)

APH is just the code you enter to get the Annual Pass discount-Annual Pass Holder-no you can not combine discounts. Also, the discount will be off your whole meal not just one person. We are out of state too but it was worth the extra money to get a preferred pass. My savings is still $315 after I add my upgrade price to my hotel savings
