Interesting "policy" about EMH....

On our last trip, we had out resort IDs checked upon entering every park for evening extra magic hours (in fact - we witnessed many groups getting turned away b/c they were not resort guests.

However - upon arriving for morning extra magic hours at MK - I pulled out my resort ID and the CM said, "you don't need to show that."

I was confused - so I asked, "Oh - why not? We've had to show them at night."

He responded, "we only check for evening EMH."

I'm hoping this was just a fluke/response to a busy day?

Anyone else have this experience?

In the morning they check you at the gate before letting you into the park.
Whereas at night--anyone can hang out at the park and try to jump into line.

That's what was weird.

I have an AP - so I didn't need to use my key to the world card to get through the gate and he said they don't check resort ids in the morning (at the main gate) just at night.

My guess would be they don't check in the morning because resort guests generally use resort transportation to the parks and day/offsite guests drive and may not be able to get into the parking lots or catch a tram that early. I could be wrong, but that would be my best guess.

For the most part, you can't get to the MK during the EMH period unless you are using Resort transportation---and, presumably, that means you're staying somewhere on the resort.

They do sometimes check at MK, depending on the day. And, the other parks do check more carefully at the turnstiles, IIRC.

We stayed offsite last trip and forgot there were EMH in the AM. Normally you are allowed to hop on the boat or monorail at any time. But they held everyone at the gates into the TTC and wouldn't let us even get on the boat until 9am.

So, in theory, resort guests get a good 10 minutes extra in the EMH if everyone is held at the TTC until 9am.

I noticed the same thing and was wondering what would stop a non-hotel guest from attending EMH.

We have AP's also and weren't asked to show our room keys when entering parks for AM EMH. I thought it was odd.

I also wasn't aware that at MK, you can't go to Frontierland or Adventureland during EMH. I was wanting to get a few spins on BTMRR under my belt during EMH but wasn't able to do so. We did get to do Peter Pan with a 5 min wait, SM, Buzz, CoP and some other stuff.

Is it still possible to drive to a park for early EMH though? We are staying onsite, but were planning on driving to AK for the morning EMH.

Last June at MK's EEM they checked the ID at the Monorail at TTC. Only the resort Monorail was running and at the TTC we were asked to show our resort key before entering the line. Everyone who did not have an ID were directed to the boats or the express monorail
Other guests would arrive by resort buses so they would not have to be checked. .

hi so who does it work at night does it make the lines longer or about the same as it was with the wrisrt bands

tks Tony NY

It definitely slowed down the entry process when we went to an evening EMH at EPCOT - but nothing horrible.

When we were there in September, we went to Animal Kingdom for EMH in the morning and the people in front of us were actually not allowed to enter the park because they were not resort guests. I can't imagine that they would not check, otherwise everyone would be trying to get in.

For MK they have a captive audience at the TTC center, but you can drive to the other parks for EMH but they will check your resort tickets at the gate.

We are always resort guest and we always drive. It is not a problem driving to the park on EMH. However at TTC, you will need to show your resort ID to go through the gate as the CMs hold others back. You also have to ride the resort monorail becuase the express monorail generally is not running. We have never been ask to show any ID at the gate when we go to the early entry.

DAK parking lot is notorious for not opening early enough to allow AM EMH guests to get to the gates soon enough to get to rope drop ahead of much of the early crowd.

I recommend that for AM EMH at MK and DAK to take the Disney bus.
It can save you some time and headaches.

We have AP's and we are local, but stayed with my In-Laws at All Stars this last January. We went to EMH in the morning at Epcot, and they never checked our ID and we used our AP's to park (because we get free parking) and we got into the parking lot just fine a little bit before the park opened for EMH.

So at least the morning we went, anyone could have gotten in that morning no matter if they had a resort ID or not.
