Interesting items from latest DCL post cruise survey

Charging for all food is eventually going to be the norm for all cruise lines.

I would love a drink package. While you get people who abuse it on other lines, that alone isn't going to turn Disney into a party cruise line. It's still something that is seen as a con to many adult cruisers.

I also doubt that Disney would make it unlimited drinks. There would be some sort of cap on how many you can order - again, to keep the Disney "brand" on point as much as possible.

Do you save a ton of money on drink packages? Not really, but it makes everything feel more all-inclusive, and would definitely bring people to DCL who were or are on the fence.

I had that question about the adult only cruise back in September on the Wish. I agree with a pp that if DCL did it once a year and it was 7+ nights they’d have no issue filling the ship.

I’d never drink enough to have a full drinks package but if they did a 10 drink ‘coupon’ where you pay a discounted amount per drink but you pay for it all upfront I’d buy that. So each coupon = one drink.
If they did a drink package, it would definitely be capped at how many you get in one day. I don't see Disney doing a truly unlimited alcohol package.

I'd be open to an adults only sailing, but part of my fun is seeing the joy on kid's faces when they see characters, etc.

Drink package could be interesting if it includes all the specialty coffees and non-alcoholic drink of the day, etc. We had some type of coffee package on Princess before and it was perfect.

We sailed the first week of September on the fantasy too. These questions were not part of my post cruise survey then.

Well it's in their head. No problem with it if it's specialty drinks only, but we know that just won't be the case. Those who don't drink alcohol, and other specialty coffees and drinks a lot will get screwed the most.

Those who just drink tea, sodas, ect will be paying twice for those.

Sorry, but I just don’t see DCL charging for sodas and regular coffee. It has been included in the cruise fare for so long. They will just raise the cruise fare to cover sodas - seems they already have. My VGT rate on the fantasy in May and September was $3300 for 2 people. My VGT rate on the fantasy last week was $4900. A big jump in price that will pay for lots of soda.

It is possible, but by no means guaranteed, that if DCL adds a drink package they will remove free fountain drinks. I believe there are more people who currently cruise who would be upset by taking away free beverages and would not buy a package than there are people who don’t cruise with Disney because of the lack of a beverage package. I get 3-5 drinks from the drink station each day because there is no additional cost, but I would not spend more than $5 a day on a soda package.

It would be to Disney’s benefit to include specialty non-alcoholic drinks in a beverage package, since those cost less than alcoholic drinks. As long as buying a package is optional for each guest in a room, people who feel they wouldn’t get their money’s worth out of a package can simply not buy one. I really hope DCL does not adopt the policy of some other cruise lines that require every drinking-aged passenger in the room to get a drink package if anyone does. That would be particularly unfair for guests who are pregnant or trying to get pregnant (and therefore avoiding alcohol), which is probably a larger proportion of guests on DCL than on other lines.

Hopefully not, but how many other lines out there don't charge for soda? I have no idea. Are there some out there?

My son with Minnie a highlight of our cruise

If the kids are onboard at all- adults tend to forgo the funnel vision pools for the adult one- If there are no kids at all in the funnel vision pools- adults will spread out and take over that area without an issue. Changes to where things are held would need to happen- maybe hold Match Your Mate in the Walt Disney theater with bar staff still going around like they do before a show? Hold duel music trivia every night- one in D Lounge and one in The Tube\Evolution both doing the same decade (so both would offer 80's trivia at the same time) so everyone can play? Have a pin trading event in the Oceaneers and rare character meets there and adults will keep it hopping and take the pressure off other venues. Video game tournaments at Vibe and Edge would make some adult cruisers very happy. I understand the crowding issues but I feel they could be managed with some thought.
Exactly, if they open up the kids only areas for adults, there would be much more space. I would DEFINITELY be interested in an adult only cruise. Surprised they are even considering this. Been saying for years they should do an adults only day at the parks 😁

Not interested in a drink package, but I can imagine this being very popular.

I would think the adult only cruise would sell out. The PC cruises I've been on have sold out early and have been mostly adults. They had a bunch more entertainment and we even got to go into the kids spaces and have the CMs run a few of the programs that they do with the kids. It was a great time. I for sure would be interested as long as it was more than 4 days, preferably 7 or more.

I wish they would survey if you would like more domestic 7 night cruises on the Classic 4 ships.
That would be a YES!!
Agree. So much. This is a popular topic of discussion in our household. How does DCL think they can fill the Wish, Fantasy, Dream, Destiny and Magic (part of the time) with short cruises to the Bahamas. Are there really enough people wanting short cruises to fill all these ships every week? There are lots of guarantee rates on these cruises right now - before the destiny and fantasy start sailing these short bahama cruises. Why not let another ship do 7 (or longer!) night cruises every week.

Apparently there are. It seems like the current ships are sailing nearly full.

It's also an industry trend right now, I keep seeing ads for Royal touting their 3 night cruises. The 3 nighters don't usually eat up the vacation time as much. Granted I think most people who sail Disney from PC pair a 3 or night cruise with a few nights at WDW.

This was something I poste way back in February 2023 in another thread talking about if you could change one thing about DCL and I had a lot of likes.

I posted:
I know this might not go over well and could start arguments but I would like to see an 18 and older cruise.
I think there would be enough of a demand they could do at least one a year. Make it a seven day with 2 stops at Cast Away Cay.
Now I have nothing against kids. My wife and I have been on thirteen seven day cruises over the last 22 years and we have always had a great time. I think it would sell out fast especially with 2 stops at Cats Away Cay.
They could do it during a time of the year most kids are in school.
Just a thought, please don't hate me
:scared:

I went to Scott's DCL blog and this week special offers on MANY many cruises. 99 percent are short
cruises with WISH and Dream leading the way. The only seven night and above are Europe and Australia.

I looked the same time last year he posted and maybe there were 10 or 11. Im getting emails to book a
cruise a few times a month. Usually I get them a few times a year. lol
