Interesting comments from Iger....

Disney Profits inch up.. Iger said the project MyMagic began a new "beta phase" Aug. 2 in which the systems will ultimately be used by more than 80,000 customers. He said guests who have used the features in early tests have reacted positively, though he did not elaborate. Iger said Disney is now targeting a "probable full rollout in the early part" of its 2014 fiscal year, which begins in October. Executives had previously said they were aiming to have MyMagic+ fully implemented by the end of this year. Disney profit inches up as travelers spend more -

I recommend October 18th (the day after our trip ends).

I will do you a few weeks later, and recommend a start date of after November 3rd. (The day after my trip - LOL!!!)

Given the problems I've been reading about, I'm surprised they are rolling it out this quickly.

I'm kind of excited. We have a trip planned for 10/18-10/26. I guess I'm one of the few people that would like to try it.

I'm kind of excited too. We visit in March. I hope if there is a change I manage to figure it out.

Gee, thanks...we arrive October 19th! Lol

I wondered if this recent test was the last big test before rolling it out to the masses. Looks like it might be....ugh.

At this point, they just have to rip the bandaid off if they want to have a prayer of the system working before the holidays.

Honestly, what we are hearing about here is but a small percentage of guests at Disney who are testing these things. We are not even getting a large enough sample to even pretend we know how the tests are going in the long run. There was one large system wide issue with the turnstiles, but I bet that was fixed very very quickly.

The problems we hear about are WHY Disney does this testing... why ANY company does tests. You can create a system and play with it in house all you want, but until you have the numbers and people to test it, you can never know all the issues. Game testing is a good example. Players are going to put that code through the wringer, find every little flaw, and do things that the creators would never even THINK about.

So it's probably safe to assume that for my August 2014 trip, they will be finished with the testing phase, getting ready to roll out the real thing. I'm guessing I won't be affected at all.

By then this thing should be rolled out by this oct if he was quoted correct.

Based off of what Iger said, this may very well be the last test and it will go live this fall. My guess would be late October/early November so that they have a bit before the holiday season. Disney's fiscal year begins October 1, 2013. By the time of your trip it will have been in place for quite awhile.

Note: This is based purely on the information based on the OP

Couldn't agree more. And they'll have to train the holiday staff. So October seems like it'll be a go. It's my secret opinion that most people will love it. Long-time Disney goers just fear change.

.....or something like that. :drinking:

Can't wait to see all of this to be done. Maybe we will test it during our trip in November...

I believe Magic Band his a great addition to the offer and sure is a great technology but...

As I said on a few threads before, I just don't get the idea of choosing today what attraction you'll ride and what you'll eat in 7 months.

Kind of excited about the whole thing. Dont really like that i have to pick them out so early, but think it will be cool when the whole thing is done.

there goes my hope on getting my hands on a magic band for september at the contemporary i am a annual passholder so either way ill probably have to wait till its fully rolled out.
