Insurance and tracers

Has anyone had to have insured packages, shipped USPS, traced? How does it work and how long does it take?
Luckily, I have never experienced this before.
I have two separate problematic incoming orders.
One the seller is going to re-ship.
The other the seller said he mailed Priority 07/10. (not rec'd) The seller is going to put a tracer on it. It's not one of those gvmnt things that takes forever, is it?
Bummer is that these two orders are $75 of my $ tied up. Double
I'm beginning to suspect my mailman. If he shows up some day wearing certain pins -- then I'll know!

wow.. seems like I have heard a lot of stories in the past month of mail taking forever and packages getting lost! What's up with the postal service lately??

We came very close to the "tracer stage" in a trade not long ago, but luckily the package finally arrived......mangled, and very late, but arrived, nonetheless........

When I talked with the post office about it, they told me that they couldn't trace anything with a postmark (receipt) date of less than three weeks. After that date, they would require a letter from the intended recipient, vouching for the fact that the parcel never arrived. They would then begin the trace.......never asked how long it would take (sorry!)......

I would also add, that just because it's very late, doesn't mean it won't eventually arrive.......I mailed the package I spoke above about, to the trader on 5/2, from Florida, and it arrived in Texas, exactly three weeks later.........go figure! So don't give up!

I just called the USPS to find out more on the tracing process.
I explained the situation. I was told that Priority shipments (insured or not-insured) cannot be traced.
I'm waiting part of next and calling it quits on that one.
I have had a BAD day. Can you tell?

I was shipping pins via UPS. I stopped because of two reasons. The first was that it took 7 days for the packages to go from NY to LA. The second was I sent a package that UPS could not deliver. They said that the address did not exist, which is not true. It took UPS over a month to return the package to me. I have always been able to trace the packages I have sent on-line, on their web site. Sorry you are having these problems.

The package mailed Priority on the 10th arrived today!
It's a MM Club 5-pin framed set. Bran' spanking new and very, very cool!

I'm sure the other MIA pin set will be taken care of too.
July just doesn't seem to be a good pins-are-in-the-mail month for me.
I have decided not to buy any more pins until I get all I have paid for. That may take a while at this rate. And think of the $ I will save!
