Any suggestions for a, gulp, (lol, lol) fanny pack or even one of those across the chest smallish bags that can hold credit cards, cell phone, cash, small sunscreen, keys, etc?

Going to bring a traditional backpack for drinks/snacks, etc....but looking for ideas of things that other DWers have tried and liked.

Thanks :o)
Kim

coming to Fort Wilderness for the fist time
for Halloween !!!

please, no fanny pack.
I carry a VB hipster and I have a faux VB backpack. DD carried her own backpack I made ( glued rhinestones and a feather boa to ) for herself the last time she went and it cut down greatly on the junk we hauled around.

My bag gets smaller each trip. This year I will be rocking the fanny pack for several reasons : by the end of the day any extra weight on my shoulders is like tourture, with a fanny pack I never have to worry about stowing my bag during a ride and my final reason..... I am on vacation and I can do what I like :rotfl: !

At a place where it's perfectly acceptable to don mouse ears and cartoon t-shirts, I think it's fine to wear a fanny pack. I got a cheapo leather one a Wal-Mart a few years back and it's made it through several vacations with me. A strap over your shoulder gets hot really quickly and you don't have to worry about where to put your bag when you go on rides.

This year I'm going to try out a mini messanger like bag I found at the second hand store-It has Mickey on the front.

I'm bringing my back up fanny pack, just incase I can't stand wearing the other bag over my shoulder all day.

:thumbsup2 Completely agree with Very Bradley. I have used mine on my last two trips and loved it. Carries my wallet, camera, mini suncreen bottle, and room cards. :)

Already pulled it out for our next trip....

I stumbled upon a little bag at Big Lots for $6. It's a Nintendo DS Deluxe Traveler, made for carrying the game system. Inside, there is an optional cloth divider, and my camera and flip camcorder both fit in perfectly without scratching each other. It also has a pocket in the inner flap, and a zipper on the outer flap. Perfect for extra memory cards, fastpasses, ID, chapstick, etc. The strap is adjustable so it works over the shoulder, or could be worn like a fanny pack.

HOLLA SISTER!!! I thought fanny packs were way lame....untill grabbing my purse everytime we left the stroller. My Dh and I seperated several times and I kept having my purse (and all my coinage) with him and no cash flow. Totally stinks when you are super thirsty (or the kiddos) and you have your $ across the park! I bought a Tinker Bell one at CVS for $14 while I was down there and havn'tlooked back. And I certainly didn't just dig it out of my closet so i can have it packed for my trip next month:rolleyes1

I have a Columbia fanny pack that has survived many an amusement park - or other places where I just didn't want to deal with a purse. Just wore it (with pride!) last week to our state fair. ;)

I like how there is no shoulder strain/pain, no worries about it during rides, and mine is big enough to hold my camera, phone, chapstick, mints, cards, dollar store rain ponchos, etc.

It also has a clip on it, which I clipped my resort mug to last year when it wasn't full of water.

Yeah, I'm sure I looked like a dork, but I was totally rocking that dorky look! ;)

The Disneyland disers always recommend the Bagolini company's over the shoulder bags. They always get rave reviews. Check the Bagolini website.

This is the bag I got to carry this time. I want hands free but easy to access and I refuse to do a fanny pack (or crocs for that matter) as well. Don't hate me crocs lovers...I'm not a hater, just not a fan. :hippie:

It has a small zipper compartment on the outside front, on the flap. It can hold FPs or KTTW cards. Under the flap is a small organizer pocket with some CC slots and such. In the main zippered compartment there is another small zippered compartment in the back wall. Otherwise, the main zippered compartment is just a big open space. On the back side of the bag, there is a large slip pocket. It has WAY more room than it appears to have. I used it for church a couple of weeks ago and I fit the following in the main compartment with room to spare: A small Bible (probably 6 inches by 4 or so, 1 inch or so wide,) a hard-sided long wallet, pack of gum, pocket pack of tissues, small bottle of hand sanitizer, my Nikon Coolpix camera (don't buy this camera - it sucks,) and a couple of pieces of folded paper. I had plenty of room to spare. The bag is very lightweight and the strap is wide-ish and very soft so it doesn't cut into your neck or your shoulder and it is VERY adjustable. I am very Pooh-sized and I don't even have to extend it all the way to wear it cross-body. Oh yeah...it also has a small pocket on the exterior side of the bag for a cell phone.

Anyway...that's my review of that bag. :lmao:

From one Kim to another....I have a balgalini ...it holds EVERYTHING!!!! I even lent it out to a friend for her WDW vacation and she loved it. It's not that big and it slings over the shoulder. The amount of stuff I can put in there is nuts though. Room keys, band aids, advil, neosporin, camera, water, wallet, maps, autograph books and pens. I did use a fanny pack one year and it really wasn't enough room for me.

Just got back, and wore the fanny pack! It is one from a sports store, hold quite a bit - water bottle, small snacks - small front opening for passes/cards.

It was not forgotten in the rush, as it is worn!, I can keep track of my husband and kids and not my 'stuff'! I did not need to stow it on any ride, as I wear it in front I knew all was safe, and could slide to the side for the bars to fit.

As I wear prescription sunglasses, I clipped on a 'hook' to hang my glass case. Super convient to change quickly.

I do not do matching shirts, or 'ears', but I rock my fanny pack with pride!:lovestruc

I just bought a Sherpani Switch for our upcoming trip. I've been using it non-stop since. http://www.google.com/products?q=sherpani+switch&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&oe=UTF-8&rlz=1I7GGLL_en&um=1&ie=UTF-8&ei=nD6ITM-rDofW9ASswJ3gDg&sa=X&oi=product_result_group&ct=title&resnum=1&ved=0CD8QrQQwAA This google search link shows the different colors and prices.

I debated very hard between the Switch and the Overland Placer mentioned by a previous poster.

I used a Bagalini when the kids were smaller and I needed more stuff.
