Inspired by the "I feel like a bad mom" thread

To the OP ... Your situation is very similar to mine so I would agree that the in-laws are in the wrong for not treating both kids equally. I also understand your frustration as far as the in-laws not babysitting the little one. Do I think they are obligated to babysit? No. However, if they did it for the first one..what is the problem this time? I have the same issue so I understand.

The inlaws aren't treating the kids the same. You can't really change that. Would you rather they take both of the kids and not be able to adequately care for both and something happen. I'm sure you wouldn't. Why not take up their offer to watch the older one for a couple of hours and get a sitter for the younger one or have your DH watch him so that you can get some me time.

 We all need a break every once in a while. Figure out how to get it and take it. That is something I struggled with. I always felt like I was a 'bad mom' for needing time to myself. Finally I got it. It's normal and it's ok. It's hard to be a parent, don't beat yourself up and make it more difficult. Here's to time-outs, :thumbsup2 yes even moms need them sometimes too!
