What was the greatest sports event you've ever seen. Doesn't have to be an event you were there for in person, it can be something you watched on TV. I have several.

Havlicek Stole The Ball!!! Game 7 of the 1965 Eastern Conference Finals between the defending champion Celtics and the Philadelphia 76ers. I was there!!!

Bobby Orr scores the winning goal to win the Stanley Cup for the Boston Bruins.

The greatest two I have ever seen in person were at UConn. My freshman year for the BigEast final for Women's basketball. UConn was losing and at the buzzer Sue Bird threw the ball from half court - it went in... UCONN WINS
The second would be the 2004 NCAA basketball championships. Watched UConn Men and Women win the titles in Gampel Pavillian with the rest of the students on huge flat screen projector monitors.

#1 would HAVE to be the Miracle on Ice 1980 US Hockey Team beating the Soviet Union and then Finland for the Gold Medal. No question.

Bob Beamon's long jump in the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City which broke the earlier record by several FEET was amazing to witness. (Yes, I do remember watching this as a kid.)

For me, seeing the 1998 NY Yankees win 114 games in the regular season combined with 11 in the postseason totalling 125 victories made me feel that I had been priveleged to witness the greatest baseball team ever to play the game.

Miracle on Ice in 1980.

1996 Olympics. Michael Johnson and his gold shoes lived up the hype and destroyed the competition in the 200M. He had an unusual running style and set a world record. The crowd was going crazy.
