*POLL COMING!*

Have you ever had the Mumps or any of these other lovely illnesses?

Pick all that apply. Obviously, those of you who received vaccinations can't play. Lucky you!

I clearly remember having an absolutely terrible case of the chicken pox. I was 7 and this when when the doctors would still come to your house. I remember him telling my mother it was one of the worst cases he'd ever seen.

My mother told me that I had both the measles and the German Measles but, to be honest, I don't remember that. As for the mumps, I'm really not sure. :confused3

I have not had any....hope i dont get the chicken pox, i am 32 yrs old and i heard the older the worse they are!!

I had chicken pox when I was in the 8th grade. My little brother had it, so he gave it to me (even though my mother tried so hard for me to get it when I was little). It was terrible! I had my period as well at the time, so I was twice as miserable. It was a wonderful way to spend spring break that year.

I had Chicken Pox when I was in Kindergarten over Christmas and then about a month later had the mumps. I STILL remember how much the mumps hurt. Never had any form a measles.

I never had mumps and there it is going around in the midwest. At age 51 I hope I don't get them.

Yes to the chicken pox, no to everything else.

Ok, I had the measles vaccine, but still came down with a slight case when I was really little. I came down with the mumps when I was about 6, and right after that they came out with the vaccine. I somehow never got the Chicken Pox growing up, and when my kids were little I kept asking about a vaccine. Well, my oldest son came down with the chicken pox, and then on the same day my youngest ds and I came down with them. I was 28, and I was miserable. I was the sickest out of all of us. I had just started dating this great guy too...sigh. Well, fast forward lots of years, and I made sure that my youngest too kids got the chicken pox vaccine when they came out. My dh didn't want them to have it, felt the chicken pox was safer then the vaccine. I soon talked him out of that one. It was horrible and I wasn't putting my little ones through that.

I had the chicken pox when I was in kindergarten (1958 or 1959), and was so thrilled because the teacher and class called me at home to check on me. She had a big pay phone adapted for home use that she used in the classroom.

I had the measles the last two weeks of first grade (1960). I remember my mother keeping the lights dimmed, reading to me a lot, and not letting me watch television. There was a belief then that measles weakened your eyes.

I caught rubella from my older brother when I was in the 5th or 6th grade.

Never had mumps, though.

My two sons had MMR immunizations, but they both came down with chicken pox within a few days of each other - this was a couple of years before the varicella immunization was approved.

Got them babysitting. I was an adult and married. I had them so bad that there was no place on my entire body (inside and out) that you couldn't put a pen mark without touching one. I ended up in the hospital for a week with double pneumonia. I still have scars on my face 20 years later :sad2: Those chicken pox cost us over $50,000.00 :sad2:

I got the chicken pox on my 7th birthday. I was at the Ice Capades in Boston with my aunt when she noticed that I was breaking out in spots. Nothing we could do so of course we stayed for the whole show! So if any of you got the chicken pox after attending the Ice Capades in February of 1973, I apologize!

Had the mumps when I was 3 or 4 so don't really remember that.

I had the mumps as an adult (about 15 years ago).....very very painful!

I had the chicken pox when I was little but don't remember when.

I don't remember having chicken pox, but my bloodwork showed I was immune. I was born in 1976....was there a vaccine then?? :confused3 I was shown to be immune from the others, too, but I know I was vaccinated, so that wasn't a shock.

I have had all of these diseases. I grew up before they had any immunizations for them. People born in my year or before are presumed to have had them in childhood. My brother, one year younger than I, had the very first measles shot that had just been released when I was sick with the measles in Kindergarten. So, he never had measles, lucky dog. When I started medical school, they did titers for all these illnesses, and I was positive for all of them, although I don't recall having mumps. I remember when my cousin did, when I was about 4, so, I probably had a mild, unrecognized case at the time.

never had any of those, but I had scarlet fever at 2.

Chicken Pox and Measles when I was younger--not mumps though. I hope they stay away!!!

I am almost 55 years old and I have had them all - mumps, chicken pox, measles and german measles. We didn't have any vaccines when I was a little girl.

I remember the mumps most vividly - not fun!

I had chicken pox when I was 6 years old, plus I broke my arm at the same time and guess where most of the spots were? Yes, down the cast!! My mum had to poke the calamine lotion down with a knitting needle!! I had the MMR jabs when I was younger though so am hopefully immune to the other 3.

I had chicken pox when I was younger, back in the early 70s. Haven't had any of the others. Had the MMR when I was a kid, didn't know you were supposed to get a booster around college or so, and when I was 34 and pg with my first one of the bloodtests showed the immunity was gone. can't have the booster while pg so had it in the hospital just before going home.

No chicken pox, no mumps, no scarlet fever.

Yes to rubella, inside my mouth, caused by the vaccination.
