At a Memorial Day cookout, I went to sit down in a lawn chair while holding a glass of Diet Pepsi.
Chair was on a bump and as I sat, it began to tip. Tried to stop it, but couldn't. I fell to the side in the chair and then out of it and onto my stomach. In front of a bunch of people.
The whole time I was thinking, "Don't spill the pop on your white clothes." I didn't! A tiny bit slopped out, but not onto me. Got many complements on the fact that I managed to not spill it, too.
Then started itching (allergic to newly-mown grass), but didn't want to cause ANOTHER scene by mentioning it. So went and tried to wash it off. I know better than this, am a nurse! But do I listen to that little voice that says, "You're being stupid!" Nooooo.
By the time I came back from bathroom, the little white bumps had turned into giant red and white welts all over my face, neck, arms and legs.
I couldn't have been more embarrassed.
In the car on the way home to get antihistamine and a shower, DH asks, "So, what do have planned for the 4th of July?"
