Unfortunately you can only upgrade in-person at a ticket booth with him present.

It's purchased on my account (shows as many tickets/linked tickets) but I don't see any options for upgrading. His current Key was upgraded from a 2 day ticket, but I was sent an email from Disneyland after our last visit asking if I wanted to upgrade to a Key. I used the link in the email to do that. That was a few days after we got home (despite people always posting that you have to upgrade before the end of the last day of the ticket). I'll probably just call and ask when the Keys are available. I don't have a day that I can get there for a few weeks and they might stop selling by then.

My Inspire key is in the renewal period. Do you have to renew to the same key or can you downgrade a level? It's making less sense for me to get the Inspire key now but I wasn't sure whether or not I could renew to a Believe.

I’ve been able to both upgrade and downgrade at renewals, I haven’t seen anything that I have noticed that that ability at renewal has changed. Good luck!

Since I haven't had an AP in decades, I just went to the DL site to see which Magic Keys are which, pricewise. I found this info that may help folks on November 4th:



Basically the same info I originally posted, but it adds the opening time for the queue.

I H-A-T-E the cutesy names for the Keys. I never can figure out which is which. So-Cal, Deluxe, Premium, Premium Plus would make so much more sense to me. Or whatever names that actually easily ID the level of the pass. Imagine, Inspire, Believe, Enchant are all non-sense to me.

Why don't you just buy a new Believe Key? If your old key expires on the 13th, how did you make park rezzies on it? When I upgraded to Inspire, I just used my Believe up to expiration, then activated my Inspire when I was ready for next trip. So for awhile, it showed two keys on my account but one was inactive.

Which brings to mind the question, maybe @LKing can answer...can you hold TWO active MKs at once? If so, you could have lots of rezzies!

You are already in your renewal period if your pass expires on November 13. You should not need to wait until November 4. You should be able to downgrade now when renewing your pass. Because you have Inspire, your renewal offer will default to Inspire, but you should have clickable options for the other passes (Believe and Enchant) and be able to choose one of them instead.

Maybe I am remembering wrong but I thought it was an option when I last renewed. I know Believe wasn’t open for new sales but I thought it was an option on my renewal page. I’m pretty sure we once upgraded my son’s pass during his renewal period to a pass that wasn’t open for new sales at that time. You think it only works for upgrades?

Edited to say that yes, it will let me renew to the Believe pass!

That is great!


Now that leads to the question did it allow you because it just does during your renewal window. Or did it allow it because the system knows it will be available during your renewal window.

My recollection was that renewal time is the only time you can get a pass that's not open for purchase, so I'm pretty sure it would work for the whole renewal window even if sales weren't going to reopen. And I see that it works for DizMe so yay!
