Just curious how much everyone spends on their kids extra-curricular activities? (sports, classes, etc)

1 dance class per week for a year of dance and recital/costume costs ran us $700 last year for a 4 year old.

Now she has moved to gymnastics and doing 2 classes a week for her it is $50/month plus a $45 registration fee at the beginning of the year.

Summer camp will run us in the neighborhood of $350 for 2 weeks this summer.

DS isn't old enough to do anything yet. My DD6 $600 for the 9 month period for cheerleading including her uniform, competions fees, and studio fees. T-ball is around $50 for the season.

In addition to preschool, DS takes swim lessons at $125 every two months for one lesson each week. DD will start Mom and Tot swim lessons this spring/summer at the same price.

My son and I were just discussing this on the bus tonight. Between tuition, public transportation passes for both of us, toll fees and gas...the monthly total is around the $500 a month ballpark. This does not include clothes, shoes and other fees such as costumes and recital fees.

DS11 :donald: & DS8 :stitch:

Tuition = $415 per month
Ice Hockey / In-house league (now - March)= $250 per child for 12 weeks
Ice Hockey / Spring League (April - June) = $250 per child for 10 games
Ice Hockey / Fall League (Sept - March) = $900 per child
New gear = approx. $600 - $800 per year

Needless to say this is the only activity they are allowed to participate in.

I have two kids in Tae Kwon Do. It is $163 per month and that is with a military plus 2-child discount.

Piano lessons - $128 per month

That's it for us. DS is totally NOT into sports and now that DD is in high school, her extra-curricular drama class is gone and she does drama for *free* in high school. And you know, nothing is really free. I shell out money here and there for stuff.

DD11...$135 every 10 weeks for theatre class
$80 every 10 weeks if she's in a show
$120 month piano
$10 month school choir

DD9....Just quit karate - was $45 month
$125 every 10 weeks for theatre class
$80 every 10 weeks if she's in a show

Both are Girl Scouts with misc. small fees here and there.

I really don't like looking at it all broken down like this!!! :guilty:

Having kids is SO expensive! Worth it, but expensive.

We don't even take advantage of everything we could, but here are some expenses this year:

$6 a week for DD4 to free skate...not lessons, just open skate.
$80 for DS6, almost 7, to play Little League in the spring.
$75 for DS to play soccer...fall and spring.
$2000 for 6 weeks of summer camp for DS

If I sign them up for skating lessons, that is another $160 every six weeks.
If I sign DD up for gymnastics, that is $80 every seven weeks.

It seems like every program is somewhere between $80 and $120 for 6-8 weeks.

I'm 14, and I take an art class that costs 20 dollars at the begining of the year. I've had some great opertunities with it too. I've seen Luncheon At The Boating Party up close and personal. (gorgous painting) and I've seen MANY of Okeeffe's paintings and photographs. (I loved her hands pictures. so simple, but they really said something)

DD takes jazz and tap both togther are $18.50/week. Costumes for the recital are $65 each and she needs 2 for jazz and 1 for tap, so add that to the $74/month.

She just signed up for softball and that was $45 plus $20 uniform fee for first time player plus $20 fundraiser.

DS hasn't done anything yet..soccer in the fall which is about $50.

in addition to pre-K, my dd4 (almost 5) takes ballet lessons 1x week = $42/month and soccer for the spring $100

ds8 basketball for the winter season $130 (includes uniform)

guitar lessons for ds12 $25 lesson = $100/month

baseball for spring season for 2 boys = $265

swimming lessons for 8 and 5 year old this summer $30 lesson = $120/month

dd3 just got through with ice skating @ 76.00 for 11 weeks

we just today started pre ballet and tap through the park district @ 35.00 for 8 weeks.

And that is all we have done.

DD Pre K soccer $125 in the fall, Now she is playing indoor soccer - $50 for the season
swimming lessons at the YMCA for both DDs about $70 and basketball at the Y was $50 I think We would like too do a dance class soon and maybe a T-Ball league in the spring on top of school - MAYBE!! :rolleyes1

Karate 85.00 month
Kids Gym-180.00 every 9 weeks
Ice Skating 60.00 every 6 weeks
girl scouts-60.00 season in dues plus extra for trips etc (about 200.00 so far this school year)

soccer 85.00 season.

DD 13:

Taekwondo : $70 month plus $ 85 testing.. $60 tournaments plus motel and travel..

Personal trainer three times a week.. $35 hr.. ($105 week)

Travel softball $ 600 per season.. $ 200 - $ 300 new bat , $ 250 new glove .$ 40 batting gloves plus motel and travel expenses ( now wants to pitch so $35-$45 hr for coach )

Rec. softball $75

$ 65 for Basketball.. ( unless she make AAU team tryouts this week-end )

DD4
Gymnastics Jan to May $213
Swim lessons $26 every 7 weeks

DS5
Swim lessons $26 every 7 weeks
Soccer (May to July) $30

Used to also have DD in dance also, but I really got tired of the running, and also once she hits kindergarten next year she would have had to pick between dance and gymnastics. So I had her pick now.

My swim team is 45$ a month for 4 days a week 445-630pm
My water polo is the cost of gas to the 1hr away pratice (Dont go unless its summer) and 50$ a yr
Paddling is free.

Well, DS3 doesn't do anything yet. He played Tball last Spring, but that's mainly because his brother did, we aren't signing him up this Spring, and we haven't done swim lessons yet........I'm going to try teaching him in the community pool over summer.

DS10 had piano for free last year, but they aren't doing it this year, so I will be looking into finding a teacher for that. It costs about 100 bucks for football in the fall, and then another 150 for equipment, snacks, fundraisers and entrance fees. He wants to take Tae Kwon Do.......it'd be about 50 a month, not including uniform, or he could take fencing for about the same price, I haven't mentioned it to him yet. He doesn't need swimming lessons any longer, just practice and strenght building now. He gave up baseball this year.....just getting too dangerous at his age with 70 mile per hour pitches now!

Our main thing is finding the time to participate.
