Inside stateroom advice??

We are booked for the Oct 2016 sailing out of NYC on the magic...Can't wait!! We've booked an inside room this time around...thinking about switching it.. We have a 184sq ft room with no split bath on deck 6, should we consider deck 2 with a bit larger room and split bath?? There will be 2 adults and 2 kids, 7& 10...We've only sailed once before on the Fantasy in a cat 5c verandah room on deck 7 so not sure what to do!! Pros/cons would be appreciated.. Thanks in advance!

We have traveled with Disney twice our 3rd trip is this upcoming Sept. on the Fantasy out of Fl. I'm sure there are several other people on here with tons more info but we sailed once with an inside stateroom and once with an outside stateroom. Both times we had the advantage of a split bath. I know it was a god send for us. and I loved at the time the layout of the inside room because it seemed to have much more storage space for luggage, clothes etc. We are staying on deck 9 this time around and have a Deluxe Family Stateroom. so hopefully it will have the storage I am looking for. Hope you have a great trip. NY is amazing.

Our personal opinion is that we are generally ok with an inside. 2 out of 4 of my cruises have been inside. Both of the insides on deck 2. But, we have always chosen the split bath to save time and stress when getting up or getting ready for dinner.

But, I also believe on the any room on the ship is better than no room.

Even with just 2 people in the room the split bath really helps a lot - I'd say if you can swing go for one with the split bath. I've never cruised on deck 2, but I've read many threads where people have good praise for that deck.

We love deck 2 and we love insides, but we ESPECIALLY love split baths. With 4 people, if we aren't getting 2 rooms, the split bath is a must. Look into how much it would cost to upgrade. It may be less than you think. And almost certainly worth it

the split bath is something you'll appreciate every day. The inside vs outside is probably more of a preference thing. I like the outside because it feels bigger. I would feel like I "needed" the split bath

Deck 2 on the classics is great. It is easy to take the stairs to dinner and more. Getting the elevator to the upper decks is a breeze. We really enjoyed it, and split bathrooms are a real blessing.

I did an inside for the 1st time a couple of weeks ago, deck 6, no split bath. I can't imagine a 7 day in one of those rooms with my teens in tow. I felt is was perfect for 2, but don't know where 2 more would have gone. My previous Disney cruises have been on all 4 ships in family verandah staterooms.

We have done both inside with and without split bath - 4 of us with teenage kids. As posters have said the split bath is really nice but we have made do without it as well. All we care is that we are on the ship cruising We are never in the room except for sleep and showers.... We also love deck 2....preferred it to deck five and six

There are 3 of us and the split bath is just not a big deal to us. We've done a baclony twice (Magic & Fantasy) and an inside on the Fantasy. On the Fantasy it was too cold to use the balcony most of our cruise but we loved the virtual porthole in the inside....also was on deck 2 and found that very convenient to everything but the pool deck/buffet. Since there are four of you, the split bath might be worth the extra. Keep the TV on to the Bridge Cam(?) - so that you'll have some light in the morning.

If you worried about space in the room.. Might I suggest a sideways cabin.
We have sailed in both regular and sideways.. And loved our sideways cabin so much we booked it again on our NYC cruise!! I will be traveling with DH, DD 10, and DD 4..

There was enough room if you use it right. And b/c it's a sideways room the vanity is not in the middle of the room!
Hair and make-up was done at the vanity.... teeth, shower, and potty was done in the bathroom..
Also our statroom host moved our coffe table over by the bathroom (opposite wall from the bed, where the door would be in a regular room)
we were able to stack two of our suitcases there, In away giving us another dresser.

We are a family of four, with two teen daughters. We have done 11 and 12 night cruises with an inside room without problem, when they were 12 and 10 and when they were 15 and 13. Both of those times we had a split bath. Then we did a 5 night cruise, again they were 15 and 13, in an inside with one bath. That was a little rough. We did fine, but I decided I would pay attention and pay up for a split bath from then on.

Squeezing every last penny to save for excursions, I felt a sideways cabin would 'feel' roomier and being very close to ship restrooms would provide an emergency option if the kids refused to give up the throne ;-) I hope Disney appreciates how hard it is to afford cruising- a real test of loyalty that makes every CM's job crucial in making the effort feel worthwhile.

O yea.. I forgot to mention how close some of the sideways rooms on deck 5 are to the public restrooms..
They are right down the hall..
We only had to use them once, only cuz my little one didn't think she would make all the way back to room in time..
There was Hardly anyone ever in the forward elevators/restroom area.. On deck 5.. Very quite loved it VERY much..

Different opinion here I would have an inside room but pick a higher deck then you are only a few flights of stairs from the upper open decks and fresh air. First thing in the morning I can usually find a quiet spot for a coffee like others do on their balcony / verenda. I also like being near the buffet for early morning coffee or to get a cold drink to take back to the cabin whilst getting changed.
Cruised before on other lines with 4 to a cabin and the younger kids and dad would go to the gym to shower and change leaving the cabin for the ladies!
Agree with a previous poster that there is usually a quieter public toilet that can be used if it's a bit busy in the cabin!
Cruised on a very low deck one year and I appreciate that some people love deck 2 but I found it a long way from the pool and buffet if you wanted a quick coffee or snack or if you or children needed something by the pool but left it in the cabin. Always seemed to be mum that did the wait for the lift or numerous flights of stairs to get goggles or book etc etc!

We love the split bath. I would also recommend checking out how much more the cost is for two connecting inside rooms. For the dream that we are about to board, it was less than two hundred more for,the four of us.

We are a family of 3 and I don't think we've ever gotten a split bath. We've done 2 4-night, 2 5-night (B2B), a 7-night and a 14 night all in inside staterooms - and our upcoming 12-night is also in an inside. I'm pretty sure all of them have been in 11s - all on Deck 6. We've never had any major issues with bathroom access.

That said - we haven't sailed without a split bath since my DD became a tween/teen - the last time she was 9. We'll have to see how well the upcoming cruise goes with a 13yo! Our next scheduled cruise is on NCL, though, and we've been looking at Celebrity and RCL as well - no split baths to work with for the most part, so at least we won't be missing anything!

No, not all insides have split baths. Cat 11s don't, cat 10s do. Since you said you have a deluxe, you'll have the split bath but I'd just double check your exact category.
