Innaugural Coverage

The whole thing gave me chills and brought tears to my eyes.

Was live on BBC (uk) just now, great viewing :)

Good luck president Obama :)

:goodvibes

This media circus is disgusting... I guess they got their man elected, let them have fun with it :)

Thanks anyway Pete for giving those who were interested the opportunity to watch. I want to believe you guys would have done the same had McCain been elected.

Geez, I thought it was the PEOPLE who voted?

The media circust would have been there if McCain and that woman were elected too. It is the same every inauguration.

Not to get into a debate, but if anyone thinks the media is not largely responsible for his popularity, then they are fooling themselves. This guy is nothing more than a rock star, celebrity, etc. I can guarantee that a majority of the people who voted had no clue where he stood on any subject.

By the way... I hope I eat my words. I pray he proves me wrong.

Sorry, but no one would care about another old white guy getting elected. Need proof? Look back at the big deal that was made of the Bush inauguration and there has been NO mention of cost this year, especially considering the economic climate.

I am very proud that our country has overcome its race issues, the media just disgusts me, thats all.

I absolutely agree that without the media (television, radio, internet), we would have no idea who any of these people are. Do you think media wasn't involved in every single election since the birth of this country? The media was different, (all print, and slow to arrive), but it was the only way people can communicate to one another. Do I think the media doesn't affect the outcome of elections? That would be foolish...of course it does.

But to paint all voters as blindly following the prettiest bauble presented on TV...that's insulting. If that were the case, I can think of someone much prettier that was presented by THE MEDIA, who was outright rejected by the majority of voters.

I watched from 11-12:15 EST and didn't hear any Illuminations! In fact, I dont' remember them every breaking away from coverage....

I'm loving the Illuminations music on the ABC broadcast. It makes me all happy feeling like I am in Epcot. :goodvibes

I also heard the music from Illuminations, I think it was earlier. I think it was around 930 or 10 when it first caught my ear...

My thoughts exactly...

No insult intended. The sad truth is that a majority of voters had no idea of who he was or what his qualifications were, they still don't. They voted for the black guy, or sadly, against him, that's it. They had no idea who McCain or Biden even was.

And yes, they knew the pretty one (no argument here) because she was lambasted by the media regularly.

Wow...ye of little faith.:scared:

This thread is just turning silly. He's president now, and the debates have been long since over. If the media disgusts your or you feel the need to blow off some major political steam, then I suggest you go visit a political website instead.

On topic: Thanks for the coverage Pete :)
