DH and I are in the planning stage of having an inground pool put in.

We'll like have it done this winter.

I want a pool with attached jacuzzi.

I want pavers instead of Coolcret and an outdoor kitchen/living area under a lanai.

I want solar heating, but also the ability to heat the jacuzzi electrically to warmer than the solar heat could do it.

So, any pics of your pool, any tips or ideas?

Thanks!!!

Noise. The jacuzzi and the pool equipment is noisy. So plan according with that in mind.

We had a pool/jacuzzi in TX put in and wow was the "air stuff" noisy when you ran the jacuzzi. And you need heat for a jacuzzi, otherwise there is no point.

I would consider pool heaters instead of solar. You could install the heaters and also use solar.

Lights, lights and more lights. Think about your light placement INSIDE the pool. We should have put in a couple of more lights for night swimming.

That's what I wanted, a separate heater for the jacuzzi, it would run from electricity.

On the lights, what do you think of the lights that go on the floor of the pool and not just in the wall?

We have to install a screen room per our HOA. I was thinking of having LED lights run along the frame inside the screen room too.

concider a salt water system. cheaper to run and alot less maintanence:thumbsup2

You have to drain the pool to below the lights to change them when they blow out, unfortunately. I'm dreading when that happens to ours. We have one light and it's good, but I think a second one at the opposite end would have been better, as we do use our pool a lot at night.

Absolutely, positively need heat. We didn't build the pool and the family members who did said "we live in Florida, why would we need to heat the pool?" They were a little sad when the pool was finished in January of that year and it was a little too chilly to swim. It's a royal PITA to add heat after the fact.

Consider where you're placing the pool filter, because it is very noisy. Ours is right outside our bedroom window and prevents us from expanding our lanai (as I said, we didn't build it, just have it now). Some of them are very quiet. Next door neighbor built a pool last year and we hear his running at night, but it's very, very quiet.

Another suggestion is that you may want to shop around for an outdoor kitchen and not have the pool people do it. The dealer we got our grill from does amazing outdoor kitchens and eventually, we will have him do one for us. (PM me if you want info) I'd rather get a pool from a pool expert and a kitchen from a kitchen expert, KWIM?

Good luck with all the planning. I have to say it is really nice to walk outside the house and hop in a pool whenever I feel like it for 6-8 months out of the year!

This. My biggest regret. I have managed the chemicals myself OK, but the salt water chlorinator would make it much easier to go out of town and not worry about the pool becoming a swamp while we are gone!

Thank you! We plan on expanding our bedroom into the porch, then French Doors on the back of our bedroom and the living room that open out into the screen room. I'd like the filter off the the side of the living room (it's already plumbed for that, courtesy of the builder) Since the house was framed when we bought it, we couldn't have the pool put in since it would have required new permits. I want the jacuzzi on the bedroom side, but on the far side of the pool instead of closer to the house. I want the outdoor living and kitchen area off the living room. Right where the pump would go is an area we could have a small half bath put in later on.

As DH and I brainstorm this, the price goes up, up, up! Whew!!

I will PM you! I agree with you about having the right people for each job!

Definitely!!! My neighbor has a system that she can see her current pool conditions via an app on her phone!

ETA: Sorry, DH said she can monitor her pool on some remote thing, but it is not a phone app. LOL
